what power figure did you get up to on internal before you changed it to external?? it's odd coz this thread has shown a lot of posts with blokes who have made great power with an internal wastgate.

Internal gates fine for big power, its no good when you want to reduce power.

elaborate I don't understand how... I thought when you start to wind up boost for big power that's when internal gates start to show their flaws and why people go external?? sorry for going a tad off topic I thought this would be the place where the most experience with this turbo would be and where I could get some answer.

cheers matt

The more boost you run, the less exhaust you bypass, therefore requiring less flow through the wastegate. Less boost means more flow required through gate.

I know some people are managing with them but when i had mine on we had to lift long before redline because the boost kept climbing, it does get a bit more technical than above with air in/air out but thats a pretty good summary
.

Setup at the moment
Rear housing size: GT3582r 0.82rear on standard low mount
Wastegate size: 45mm hypergate on standard manifold
Boost Level: 21psi
Gearbox/Stall/Transbrake: Jatco 3 speed, 3500rpm, no transbrake
Diff Ratio/LSD/Spool/Kaaz: 3.7 Kaaz LSD
1/4 mile time: Not run, made 294rwkw E85.
Engine Internal Mods: Standard bottom end, TX2 crow cam w' HD valve springs, head studs, ACL Race gasket.

Is a monster on the street and blows the tyres and pretty much bugger all lag! Jumps up very hard

New Setup will be finished in couple weeks
Rear housing size: GT3582r 0.82rear on standard low mount
Wastegate size: 45mm hypergate on standard manifold
Boost Level: 21psi low, 30psi high boost
Gearbox/Stall/Transbrake: Protrans 1000hp glide, 8in 5500 TCE converter
Diff Ratio/LSD/Spool/Kaaz: 3.7 Kaaz LSD
1/4 mile time: Will race before end of year.
Engine Internal Mods: scat rods, aries pistons, head work, oversize intake and outlet valves, valve springs, rajab cam, to be blunt.

Will have stats up soon. Not after absolute machine, just want reliability and if ran consisten 10s all day would be more than happy.

yeah we'll see man, its only going to make more power than it does now and it f'n flies man i love it.

Nah i dont? i rang up and they wouldnt give me the build sheets because i wasnt the direct customer of the engine? It must be the same spec cam NASA used in the Apollo 11 to get to the moon and if they said they'd prob be whiped off the planet by Secret Service.

on that note RIP Neil.

lol i got the same responce .... i dont see the secret in it , as opposed to say someone like JPC , everyone knows they use the tx2 etc etc etc

it seems good thus far to be honest but ill probably yank the thing straight out and give it to a whore in st kilda and let her use it as her secret toy

One of JPC's Gt42 "things "in a 3540 "looking" setup(maybe just the comp cover?)..however its probally borg warner
parts not garrett parts in them as most jpc stuff looks all borg warner from what i have seen so far with the big stuff
