Brando's 84 VK SL (Calais Mock Up)

Make / Model: 1984 VK SL
Colour: Pacific Turquoise body and Asteroid Silver Moulds
Bodykit: Nope
Engine Type: 202
Age: 16
Engine Mods: Possible Cam Shaft
Power: *not tested*
Exhaust: 2 inch exhaust with extractors, to a 2.5 inch dumper
Gearbox: Factory 4 Speed Manual
Diff: Standard
Brakes: Standard disc front but disc back (No idea what they are)
Suspension: Supers i think..
Wheels/Tyres: Stockies!!!
Stereo: Kenwood head unit, 2 x 6 inch Clarion speakers in front doors, 2 x 12 inch Sound Stream Subwoofers in boot.
Other Mods: Calais tail lights and garnish, Calais door moulds, Calais front grill, Central Locking, full Berlina interior, Cam Shaft (Believed by the mechanic)

I bought the car 7 months ago for $1775 and its come a long way. I have spent about $5000 (including rego and RWC) on it and lots of hard working hours. When I got the car it barely ran and had quite a few problems. The engine bay was full of grease and dirt from by the looks of it, grease hit the fan and sprayed everywhere. The vacuum system didn't work and the cars steering was terrible. I redid the steering side of things and found that the shockers weren't even screwed into the struts. I think the car was originally EFI but its not now. It also had the original air rammer on it but that was taken off (picked up another one from Pick A Part and might install). It has been resprayed with the original color Pacific Turquoise so its super clean. It also has full Berlina interior.
List of what i have done:
-New water pump
-New thermostat
-Fixed the vacuum system on it
-New belts
-New plugs
-New radiator fluid
-New battery
-New tire rod ends
-New ball joints
-New front shockers
-Pulled the tank out and cleaned it up and redid all the fuel and vapor lines

Let me know if you have any ideas or thoughts about it. Thanks

Did you just paint over the top of that rust? It doesn't look like it was sanded back.

hey haven't updated in a while so ill bring you up to date

Basically a couple of weeks ago i went to go for a drive in my car and every time i accelerated the car hopped. So when i got home i pulled the carby out to check it out and clean it being a varajet. i pulled it apart and put new jets and gaskets in it. while i had it off i decided to check the EGR Valve and EGR Valve Adapter. When i pulled both out they where a mess. The adapter was blocked and the Valve didnt work. The whole top part of both had been filled up with a glue or bog. the adapter had a pretty big chunk out of it up the top (probably why the person before me glued it up). I then saw that the inlet manifold had glue in it to. So i replaced the inlet manifold and the EGR valve and adapter. i cleaned it all out and put them back in. i was then putting the carby in and i cracked one of the mounts on the bottom. luckily i had another carby, so i put that on. after putting all the system back together, i went to run it. unfortunately for me in ran like crap. so then i then put the crank angle sensor, throttle nudger and exhaust heat valve actuator.
And wallah. it works. carby still needs a tune. but other wise its all good.
anyway i have been doing bits a pieces here on the car trying to make it the best i can for my formal this week!
i put a neon in with jarrods help (thanks bud) and im gonna clean her up the night of formal so it looks its best. ill be sure to take some photos.
anyway here is the photos of my progress!
