Thanks man. I'm on the hunt for some real clean series two grey Berlina seats as well. If anyone knows of any, let me know. Cheers

This is todays update. Apparently it will be mostly done by the weekend!
Still have to paint the moulds and bumper and re-assemble, but I'll just be glad to have the old girl home, so I can get some of this other stuff done.

Yeah thanks for bringing that up Daz...Some of us don't have the luxury of taking a perfectly good car back to bare metal because the nose cone was the wrong shade of red.

Yeah I'm not sure why I chose the two worst areas on the car to photograph, that quarter panel has obviously been repaired before, and the area around the drivers side lock (which never existed when I first bought it) where it had been broken in to. There's bugger all on the rest of the car. It was never gonna be a mega dollar restoration though....

Mate what parts did you exactly change in the hand brake shoe area? Did you get new springs and all those other little things? Excellent work mate.

Nah, Just shoes and some bolts that hold the dust cover on.

My best freind in the shed is an electric drill cable-tied to the bench with a wire wheel on it , and products like ranex rustbuster, CRC brakeleen and VHT Brake and caliper paint.

Rustbuster converts rust to a finish which is corrosion resistant, then I just clean things up with the wire wheel like springs, bolts, etc..Then paint the other bits

Man I was just going to put it all back together. You have inspired me to fix it all and do it properly.

The only reason I did it is because I initially put them on the wrong side.

When I took them back off I saw one of the shoes had cracked, so I bought new ones and pulled em apart. Then I just thought "hmm...may as well clean the backing plate with the wire wheel seeing as I can get in there properly now". Before you know it, you go all out because everything that is still dirty stands out like dogs balls! Makes heaps of difference to how smooth it all feels...even if you don't see it.

I highly recommend that rustbuster stuff. On things like the lever and springs it works a treat. I just used a normal atomiser/spray bottle to apply it. Just remember to get it all of after or it'll leave a dark stain on them.

Oh yeah, Make sure you don't use gloves with the wire wheel!! (and wear goggles)

I nearly ripped my thumb of before I realised it was a bad idea! Much better to cop a few grazes if you slip than to loose a digit

I found the only 2 'before' pics I had, taken on a good ol' film camera. I've got a scanner now so I can put em up

....It's got some primer on it now

This is as it came off the gun, and covered in dirt. I'm quite pleased with the actual color. It has a nice metallic sparkle but doesn't look completely different to the previous color, which is exactly what I wanted and it's getting a rub back and polish before the bumpers etc go on

Under the Hood? I don't think so....don't wanna make people vomit lol

Should be all together and ready for me to take home on friday. I've given him the bumpers/top moulds to paint, but I'll be fitting this stuff at home.

Are you just spraying that black or leaving it the original colour?

It's staying the original color, which doesn't clash much with the outside color at all, but yeah, it's not real tidy under there at the moment. When I'm more cashed up, I'll take the motor out, detail it and do some other stuff while the bay is getting painted. Not for a while though

That's as good as I've got. The engine bay is like a sandpit at the moment
