Try new plugs n leads before you spend money on servicing your gearbox, sounds like a similar problem i had and all it was was rooted leads.
good luck.

i actually drove my mates auto v6 VS yesterday and i was surprised at how SLOW they are... The gearbox was taking about 3 seconds to go into gear after you put it in drive and it would not do a standstill burnout no matter how hard i tried...its the first time ive driven a v6 commy since my vl turbo conversion and **** they are slow .... My auto VN calais is alot faster!

The temp gauge was sitting a bit over halfway...is that normal?

its a 95 vs , theres your problem ! sorry i couldnt resist hahaha but seriously do you expect it to just light the tyres up from just putting your foot down at the lights ?? it's a V6 commodore for christ sake it's built to drive to the shops not stomp the guy next to you at the lights...

mate.. thats besides the point..

have you touched the engine at all? changed any diff gears?

i know with our car.. we re-graphed the dizzy for a lower curve for towing etc.. now our takeoff is ****.. we load it up and still it bogs down..

try check that your still getting 1st gear.. manually shift it into 1st and see how mny kays you get out of it.. roughly though..
