VL internal fuel pump

Stupid question for the day.
Can the internal fuel pump be installed the the wrong way?

The sender that bolts to the tank?
It's circle but on that circle is a little flat bit that must sit at 12 o'clock the top of the tank
You must put the centre in the tank and twist it anti clock wise into the swirl pot inside the tank
.
