far out thats alright, sounds like it would of been cheaper to just go turbo though.

well with any car even forced induction you all do the following mods;

head work like porting, 3 deg valve grind, larger valves, cam.
bottom end gets a balance.
larger exhaust and headers, high flow cat.
better breathing via KnN filter and larger TB, air plenum to match.
aftermarket ECU to manage to run it all.
and if you want run some nos.

in the end thats pretty much what people do and thats pretty much what i have done.

When i had 120rwkw i could beat a VN and keep up with a 175 alloytech.
mind you this is with a beatup mf5 that should have retired long ago.

with the setup im about to install hopefully ill crack the 135rwkw mark out of a single cam setup.
why you ask??? its all about having fun doing it. and yes i am having fun building my motor.

mind you this is with a factory stock diff gear (3.45).
.

Not trying to call you wrong but I ran my old VL on a mainline (BTA) when it had the 3040 and it made 319.2rwhp which was .9rwhp less than it made on a dd (V&E) 6 days earlier. Just my experience.

theres nothing great about the performance of a vn but stock vs stock a vn will whipe a vl anyday and i used to own a vn so its a good comparison for me to get an idea of how well NA-jet's car goes.

stock auto vns did 15.8 second quarters thats a full 2 seconds faster than auto vls at 17.8 secs, hence if his na vl can beat a vn then it must go well

My mates put his na calais on the dyno at power cruise as a joke. lol made 123 rwhp. I thought it was a decent effort.

I dont see why anyone would try to get power outa a rb30e.

But I guess thats just me.

actually the VN buick 6 was a pretty good motor, has anyone seen the figures that the yanks are pulling with them donks.
remember the vn v6 in SC mag that was getting done up at a project, from memory the last figure they pulled before it went turbo was around the 160-170rwkw mark. and they could have acheived more but i think the guy who was doing the job quict or something like that.

Around 10kw at the fly from memory.

Its more the mid range area under the curve which is where the 3.8ltr excels.

They make good power but just don't seem to hang in there for all that long.

yeh its got about 10kw extra but its also got 296nm of torque which is the same as the turbo rb30 and 50nm more than the NA rb30, its the torque that helps get the vn over the quarter a full 2 seconds faster than the NA vl and only two tenths (.2) of a second slower than a stock 5speed vl turbo, i laugh at all the ppl with stock vl turbos who say vns are slow because a 5speed v6 vn is only 1 tenth of a second slower than a 5speed vl turbo over the quarter!

i think they have round 127kw but yeh the torque was through the roof, the first series of the vn had a problem frying the factory size 205/65/14 tyres.
so in order to tame the beast they put a bell mouth just after the TB and a slight change to cam, same power figure but less torque i think the outcome was.

u laugh at stock vl turbo owners i know which one i would rather out of a vn and a vl turbo. anyways the rb30s make up almost the whole top ten of the fasted commodores in autralia no v6 buicks in there last time i checked. rb30 are way more advanced then those oil leaking buick motors there rough as guts rb30 were the best six ever in a commodore easyily
