guys consider the rb20 a downgrade on the rb30 and the rb25 a so so upgrade but a 25 top end on a 30 bottom end is considered holy grail.

in saying that i've driven in a few 4 door chassis rb20's and theyre fun enough in my books. they wont do 300 km/h down the drag strip but for street driving and immediate response without lag theyre awesome.

its upto you mate. some people will say change the whole engine.

i'd say this. changing the engine is a big job. changing the head is a much smaller job financially and time wise.

have a think about what you are ready to put in atm.

if money and time isnt an issue fix this RB20, then build a rb30 / 26 whatever on the side to install when its finished and the car has all of the suspension brakes diff etc sorted.

Cheers guys...ok so if its RB20 ..i maybe better off souring a long motor as they seem alot cheaper ?...or can the current ECU and loom be used on all or some RB motors?....Ive got and had carbie blown v8s , turbos etc.....this one will be more of a father/son thing on the cheap

Different loom. I wouldn't put an rb20 in a vl

get an imported halfcut or a donor car. its by far the cheapest way and a donor car eliminates whether it runs or not.

a long motor seems cheap but theres always extra stuff you then need to source and buy elsewhere and it all adds up whereas the donor car provides everything you do need and a heap of stuff you can sell on ebay to recoup costs
