Not much as long as you have a pro torque sticker up the side.

There's pro torque and hi torque
Hi torque do all the commodores
I wouldn't touch hi torque, but that's just me

And pro torque is booked solid, he just squeezed me in to get my car tuned

I haven't proved anything about the std 2j
It was a stupid mistake that killed this motor

What exactly was the problem with the oil pump you fitted?

It was the same oil pump that was on my motor that got killed by the above mentioned business at a dyno day
That day, number 6 was starved of oil and and was making its way thru the rest of the bigends
The oil pump hadn't been pulled apart and cleaned out since then, this happened last April
So it would have still been full of **** from my last motor which has obviously been sent thru this motor and killed it

It prob caught some of it but it won't catch everything

Btw we are just assuming it was that that caused this motor to knock, we will know for sure once I pull it out which will prob be this weekend
Who knows, it might be something completely different but we r 99% sure it was the oil pump

hate to say it but ur celica isnt the first car to go to petes and have oil pump failure. ive seen many cars end up on the tow truck after going there. unlucky to put in the hard yards and then get slapped in the face, best of luck for the future build, i'd have slit my wrists by now.

What I'm doing to the oil pump this time round, it won't have an issue at all with oil pressure
Bout 130psi at about 5000-5500rpm
Will be back running very soon, waiting on my crank to come back

Sean, what's the southern 80?

Really, won't just pump all the oil to the head then do what your last engine did??

If you increase your OIL PRESSURE, you will lower the flow. (on the same pump)

The pressure goes up as it bypasses most of the factory **** in the block
A line comes out of the pump, into your filter, thru your cooler and back into where the std oil filter screws on

It works very well

No oil pressure kills motors

ok troy I think you really mean you want flow. When I hurt a big end once I put it down to not enough oil flow to the crank\bearings . So I did what i think you are doing now ...kind of.

Big external pump with -12 oulet running -12 line with a inline -12 filter then straight into the block where I drilled and tapped a -12 fitting. All the oil galleries were drilled radiused and cleaned out FULLY to open them up. Did not need to run high pressure but there was lots of oil there and when the bearings were pulled each time after to check they were perfect. Mind you good oil flow is not subsitute for crap tuning either

Putting the pressure right up has a detrimental effect as it can make the pump "churn" up the oil and kind of makes if froth which is not good.

id go see an real engine builder rather then going of internet forums for advice but.

Just because asuper cool USA supra man on some forums has done this and that to his car and made X power or ran x time doesnt mean its the correct way.

Its a Ski boat race down the Murray River. 80K flat out and the big boys can do it in 30 min flat with 2 skiers. That's an average of 160kph on water.
Its a great spectacle on a river that would only be 50m wide and is full of corners and trees.

Unlucky about your oil pump troy. That has happened to me before and its not a fun thing.
