Yeh mo - never a good thing to see. One benefit is I got to the bottom of what was actually in the motor including cam specs and pistons because the builder kept it all hush - turns out I was only rolling 7:1 comp could have fired a **** ton more boost at it without this o-ring issue.
Really excited about this LS build I've got the T56 now should be able to build it cheaper all up than my RB build but make similar HP and best of all stock(ish) and all the benefits that come from that ![]() If all goes well I'm thinking about doing a few more conversions in my spare time now that my shed it all set up nicely - see what happens. Purchase list to date: LS3 E-rod kit Engine Tuff mounts Gearbox cross member and tuffmount T56 used with Tex "z" clutch - anyone know if these are any good for my application? VR V8 K-Frame Still to get: Pacemaker extractors and engine mounts (just in case tuff don't fit or paceys are better - want to know once and for all for myself) LS1 Holden style front sump and baffle/trapdoor kit Serpentine belt and acc kit Starter conversion - Still not sure between Malwood, CAE or Castlemaine kit Fuel setup - Going to go undercar surge again and potentially returnless setup Exhaust Oil cooler kit Catch can Gauge dash setup |

fk running the fly by wire, just get a cable 4 bolt 92mm fast
im using a vl pedal box and master, and got a malwood t56 remote bleeder. the z clutch i have heard ok things about, but I wouldnt go anything but a NPC, I have a twin plate NPC organic clutch quiet pricey little things but feel awesome without having to ride the **** out of it and can handle the power/torque I would go malwood with most of it as their products seem to be a bit better in quality and should fit alot better. Have fun with the conversion any questions shoot me a message, Ive done it all

Thanks mate defo running the fly by wire its all there to use good enough for ve gts/corvette - good enough for vl lol.
I'm looking at getting a QuickTime bellhousing seems some of these clutches have a nasty habit of grenading and doing some serious damage to engine bays and potentially legs! I need a clutch that is good on street, can take circuit abuse and the odd 2-step drag launch. I'm not sure how engineering friendly the underdash pedals are mo thought they were for boosterless brake setups? Cheers fellas. |

I've had nothing but trouble with TUFF Mounts... i mean they are great mounts if you want to get a custom sump and pipes...

What's happening with yours now Jack? I haven't been on here much in the last yr or so but I'm super keen to get this Calais out of my shed under it's own steam for a change!
For those playing at home this is the clutch I've decided on after much deliberation Linky. Not knowing anything about clutch selection coming into this I'm hoping I've got something that can take a beating without giving up traffic manners. Time will tell I guess! MUS - the "B" stand for broke :P - well more specifically RB30...DEBT aka loan, defecit, mortgage etc ![]() Not sure whether to keep rocking the plates once the LS3 is in or keep them at the DPI forever haha |

I heard when they drove it back from east chris had to put plastic seat covers on the seats because he was constantly wetting himself.
I'll update my thread in a little bit Chris. All is normal, waiting until the weather clears before I have another attempt at an 11 (see how much it costs me this time...)

Looking good mate, Im interested to see how you go about running a ls3 into a early girl, Ive now done ls1 and ls2 but using 24x reluctor wheel and gen 3 computer/harness.
How long till shes running? is the ls3 standard?

Thanks mate prob still 2 months from starting but we'll see how we go got the g/box crossmember back today
The kit is all ready to go with gen IV ecu, loom, sensors etc to suit. It's setup as a standalone unit just need to give it power and 58psi of fuel and good to go. Really the only tricky part i can see is fabricating a bracket to mount the fly by wire pedal. Getting clearance for the gearbox was a bit tricky and I still haven't put the P/S rack back in to see what I'm up against there but pacemaker headers are all fitted up. BTW ended up getting that triple plate clutch as well, got it all installed + remote bleeder hopefully turns out to be a winner matched with the malwood pedal box. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey Guys,
Got busy today so here's some pics first up a ****load of P/S rack clearance photos. Thought i had a heap of clearance at first then the intermediate shaft nut went on and was just hitting so I trimmed it up and seems ok now. Haven't moved/spaced the rack at all ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So finally had the motor/gearbox in and self supported now that the modified Tuff Mount gearbox crossmember has been returned! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My only worry is that the drivers side of the engine seems to be sitting about 10mm higher than the passenger side, has anyone come across this before or know how to fix? I've tried fiddling with the mounts a bit but they always seem to settle on the same angle? ![]() |
