Mine has been tucked away for almost two years.. Hopefully finished this year.. Only taken it out a couple times. Everyone i know with vls are doing things on them that takes them off the road.

Did you move or something man? Noticed your vl isn't sitting down the long driveway any more. I just painted and put my 304 into my vl this week. Wont be long now.

My VL ? Its in the garage at the moment since I found that around the boot seal looks like swiss cheese which i have no idea how to fix and there is 2 more holes in the boot floor. So I took the chance to get engine out and de loom, weld up old holes and paint the bay. Took 10x longer then expected which is always the case.

Now to remember how it goes back together =/

Now do I just stick it all back in or go down the never ending road of painting and making everything look nice before I put it back together

Hey guys. I'm looking at towing my vl up to Auckland from Tauranga on a trailer and using my Vy v6 as the tow vehicle, never done it before so looking for tips and advice. Is the vy suitable? Anyone done a similar trip? Will my tow bar rip off? These are qs going through my mind right now. Cheers

The trailer itself is about 400kg I would guess, so with the VL on its going to be about what? 1600kg? its braked yes. My towbar says max 1600kg braked and a max tongue load of only 50kg, which seem likes nothing.

Ive decided the VY isnt the way to go, not keen to wreck my driveline, plus the tow bar is a piece of ****.

Probably a wise choice. Saying that I have town my VL behind a GTT caldina a long way on a massive double axle braked trailer and it was ok. Also towed it many a time behind that car with a strop. I guess the common factor here is my VL requires towing a lot.

What you doing with your VL at the moment ?

Yea I have a new plan to drive it back now which is clearly a worse option, so wish me luck.

At least yours gets out to break down and then be towed, if that makes sense? Mines been stuffed in the shed for the last 4 years, it's coming back home finally and the plan is to be cruising the streets this summer, not too much work required, just a general tidy up and possibly a cert for Turbo mods, although I'm hoping to get away without.

Haha and no matter how many test drives you do a long drive always brings out the demons. Have you got any pics of your car?

Yea it got well used, drove it to Blenheim where i lived for a while and took it to Haast, Christchurch and Dunedin on separate trips until the boost bug kicked in and the reliability dropped considerably but that's the fun stuff.
Hopefully yours and a few other VLs are out again for a summer cruise.

Speaking of certs has anyone seen the amendment made about driveshaft loops? it states

" a vehicle that has a two or three piece drive shaft is not required to have a drive shaft safety loop fitted to any section where a drive shaft hanger bearing is positioned directly behind a universal and where the hangar will effectively contain a disengaged driveshaft."

I am not familiar enough with VL hanger bearings to know if they fit the bill ?

Yea ill chuck some pics up soon, just done an oil change and checked over a few things, its running mint. I went to start it again and my alarm remote has died! Cant turn off immobilizer wtf! of all the issues I was thinking about that was not one of them, have to jimmy something up. As for the drive shaft thing, I think the hanger bearing is a fair way back from the front UJ so may not count? ill have a look today and get back to ya

Agreed. Flat out trying to get mine ready before summer.

Relay panel in the boot along with battery.

Just put 25det box in only to realise i should have used the MF5 box release bearing not the 25det one becasue now the clutch for is jammed hard against the bell housing.

Just wondering if anyone would have a standard 15" Royale alloy wheel handy and they could photograph the part numbers/manufacturer inside for me?

They're almost the same as the Calais except they have no Holden lettering engraved on the outer face and have the centre plate held on with a screw.

I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
