no way you'll fit a 3076 in there with a spacer buddy, theres bugger all room. i have a 2835 pro s on mine (3071 size) and it only jusssst squeezes in, any bigger it would hit the chassis rail, no two ways about it!!

however upgrading your lines/dump pipe etc is a good idea anyway as the stock gear is crap

Check out this thread on SAU:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for... romsearch__1

Plenty of information on building a super responsive 400rwhp street sleeper. Also check out their latest bolton SS series turbochargers, power, boost and torque figures have out perform all the garretts in its hp range.

Exactly hence why I been looking at hypergear I spend alot of time on sau

---------- Post added 04-09-11 at 16:05 ----------

Yeah the ss series is what I was looking at but Tao at hypergear recommends the atr43g3 for my application

Sorry must've throught its a RB30xxt when I looked at VLs. The SS1PU would be our top recommendation on Rb25dets for around 260~280rwkws mark. It feels like a big turbo on baby turbo's response. Check out the dyno reading on this turbo in our website or SAU thread.

---------- Post added 05-09-11 at 08:31 ----------

what turbo would you recomend then for then tao at im looking for a power goal of 300rwkw or more

For a responsive 300rwkws I would recommend SS2, But if you are going for lot more then 300rwkws then the G3 is more suited. The G3 setup would max around 340rwkws mark. How ever you will need to run a aftermarket exhaust manifold and external gate to get that.

ok yeah well its a street car so external gate id rather pass on that so response will def be better. what is the SS2 worth i cant find it on your webpage and do you have a dyno sheet i can look at of a SS2 on a r33

---------- Post added 06-09-11 at 08:11 ----------

little bit more of a update. as per usual plans change. hypergear as you prob can read above have released a new series of turbo. atr43ss series which have better response for the street. so i have decided to go for the ss2 which will reach my power goal of 300rwkw. also on the weekend i had a little miss hap with the front end. so i went to jacks last night and picked up a new nose cone. all i need to do is sand it back and paint it white and it should be all sweet.

ok doing all this research on turbo's is driving me nuts i have a decision to make whether i make a responsive 300rwkw with a hypergear turbo so only injectors need upgrading to do that or i can aim for alot higher kw with a kinuguwa turbo which requires highmount wastegate and a forward facing plenum and bigger injectors however it has been proven these turbos make well over the 350rwkw mark. what do you guys reckon take longer to build it and spend more money or save money and have it pushing out 300rwkw sooner

Unless u have an aftermarket ecu, u can't just "upgrade the injectors" and make 300rwkw.

i dont know if i agree with that zak, a well thought out build isnt always expensive. i do agree with the "do it once, do it properly" mentality- but turbo's are really easy to change and neither of the options are dodgy chinese units.

personally, i'd take response over power any day of the week. by the looks of things, the hypergear ss turbo delivers both. 300rwkw is bullllllk power for the street. its even got me thinking whether i should upgrade my hks turbo for a bit more power without any more lag.

at the end of the day, if you take a punt on a hypergear turbo with a bigger set of injectors, its an internal wastegate unit so you'll need bugger all mods to fit it. if you get bored of the power and want more, you'll make most of your money back selling the turbo second hand. plus your car will be on the road sooner. assuming you've already got the ecu its as easy as ordering a ss2, bolt it on over the weekend, get ovaboost to tune it on monday, take it to the plex wednesday. stoked!!

mo yes i do have a aftermarket ecu its a microtech lt12s says in first post

cais i knwo what you mean decisions are so hard however i also just found kiniguwa also do a tdo6-25g with a 10cm housing which can also put out same amount of power as the hypergear and are only 750 delivered all i will need then is injectors and a external gate welded to the housing of turbo gahhhh decisions

bulk research is a understatement when your a car salesman you have way to much time on your hands i honestly think im going to go the kiniguwa
im not going to go the bigger one for the 350+kw i was talking to a guy on sau who has run a few of there turbos and he reccomends the Kinugawa TD06SL2-20G w/ T3 V-Band Housing with 10cm rear housing. he reckons this will get me my 300kw and maybe a little more and i can keep it low mount. when i get bored of it i will sell it and go highmount and go bigger

---------- Post added 22-09-11 at 18:33 ----------

caibs yes they are journal bearing but that is not a issue for me

love the way this car is coming along Joel personally i would get a hypergear turbo but in the end who cares........ get the best bits you can afford to allow you to reach your goal!!

PS your old motor still hasn't been started!!

the reason im thinking of going the kinuguwa is because i want to be different i have found the hypergear turbos tend to drop of after 5500rpm where all the dyno sheets i have seen with the kinuguwa they seem to hold boost to redline.maybe its because they are external gated rather than the internal gate

are you serious my engine still has not been started far out. let me know how it goes when it does get started

---------- Post added 23-09-11 at 08:53 ----------

also guys forgot to mention whats the deal with wastegates how do you choose the right size gate for the application i have never had to choose a external gate before. i know i will need the right spring rate but what size

ok as you all know im trying to get the vl engineered with the rb25 after getting a yellow sticker. update on the engineering process. rang my engineer today to see what the hell is going on. he has requested i do a brake test and a tracking measurement. and a noise test which i knew was coming. im hoping emissions are not going to be asked of but i have a gut feeling they will
