Hey any guys going down to the drags tonight? I am and it'll be my first quarter mile run. Hey do I need to bring any safety gear like helmut? if racing starts at 5pm how long does it usually go for?

can you hire a helmut from them? I don't have one. They don't go over it like the regency does do they? like check suspension height and rim size?

dont think u can hire helmet! u need to supply ur own which is ADR compliant also they dont give a **** how low or anything like that they are only checking roadworthiness i.e springs cut hanging out of saddle, N.S.S, overall condition of car(is anything gonna full off and become a hazard etc etc..

by the way u cant (i dont think) just rock up and race u need to fill out paper work etc to be allowed

I dont think like you having coolant in your overflow etc either. Just make sure it's generally pretty tidy and you'll be right.

cant mix and match tyres from side to side either ( front n back can be different sort tho )

i think people usually just put a coke bottle or similar on the pipe coming out of the overflow in case it boils over.

update the thread with how you go!

results from last night

Hey all,

well went down without any experience and and had a good time. no probs with car. was able to hire a helmut for $10 plus $20 deposit which isn't too bad. Was able to do four passes before a dust storm blew up and that pretty much ended the night. best time was 14.712 secs @ 91.93 m/hr. bit disappointed with that, seemed to have good starts but accelleration in 3rd gear was a bit lacking. will need to do a lot more work to achieve my goal of 12 sec time I think.

best 60ft time which was also in my best time overall was 2.144. I have intercooler, no blow off valve and factory boost release valve is bunged up. set to 15 psi which on the dyno rated 183 rwkw Lauching, well pretty much once in position I reved to bout 4 thou and let clutch out on green light.

burnouts are really to clean the tyres from all the **** on them.

Unless you ran slicks there aren't huge advantages I dont think.

I want to take my cars to the drags , and im definatly not putting slicks on. I want to see how quick my car is in street trim. Thats 235 normal tyres. Spare wheel in boot. Rear seats in car.
As i drive it everyday to work.

thats a pretty slow time considering the power. factory the bt1 ran a 14.9 and a calais turbo manual ran a 15.1

now thats no mods and 6psi!
according to a program my m8 has got (and all running smoothly) my car is supposed to a 14.1 at 103mph thats 9psi, mild head work, na plennum, full 3" zorst, manual, open wheeler with 16" 225/50r16

what times has other guys ran?

I dont think there is anything wrong with the time he ran.. 15 year old cars have developed wear and tare along the line. No doubt practice would improve it some what.

I ran a 15.4 in my NA R31 but when I went to AIR (first pass was a 16.9 thou) and I got my best passes about 10-12shots into it, and they were pretty consistant times with each other from 12-20 1/4 passes.

How did you find 3rd gear was lacking SpeedracerVL?

fair enough on the ware and tare but his car is running like 80+kw more than standard so this alone should more than compensate for ware and tare i got a m8 (FLYIN6) which has 300rwkw (or something like that) that does a 12.2 on street tyres (granted thats letting the clutch go at 5500rpm) what im trying to get at is his car is (or at least should be) good for a high 13 REALLY low 14sec pass and the trap spd should be more like 110-120mph.
this is just my opinion but if he wants to crack the 12sec pass he needs to get a feel for the car first and learn how to launch her nicely prehaps even get a lower diff ratio.
What times have other guys/girls ran?????????????????

If anyone was at air for the 4,6 and rotery thing, a blue wagon was running consistant 12's all day with about 170kw or something (it had pretty mild mods).

I think having the manual will take some getting used to speedracervl, did you have traction problems at all?

I agree it should be able to do a high13, and I would be pretty confident he could run it with a bit more practice @ the strip.
