do it yourself cos its not that hard. weld a plate behind the lock, filli it with bog or fiberglass, sand it and if you can paint it. if you cant paint, bring it somewhere, just a suggestion

nope, just do small spot welds on the corners and centers if you want, should be fine.

I still retain my drivers door lock , but the passenger door is gone. Same as other's have said. The crash repairer welded a piece behind door and filled hole with bog.
Id sujest the obvious too, steering lock , alarm with imobiliser, kill switch, detachable face stereo. Donk keep any bags in view cause ppl will still presume something valuble is in it and want it even if its only old rags.
Coupla years back i parked at maughn thiem ford car park and left my face on the stereo. They smashed the window, ripped the stereo out and all my stuff in the glove box was gone. Door was still locked and alarm was blazing.

Does your car have central locking? If it does, take it to a panel beater, and they'll cover the door holes, and you have to rely on your central locking to get in!

assuming your VL is a sedan, if your remote fails, you'll have no way to get into the car, so i suggest an override somewhere, as in, a small button that will open the doors if your remote fails. maybe put it under the mirror? in the front wheel arch!

On a more serious note, did they respray the whole door when they did that?

Umm... they resprayed the whole car when they did that :P

But to have it done to a VL the door would be masked from the mouldings down and only the top half would be resprayed.
If it was hard to colour match then the top half of the passenger door would be painted as well. No need to paint mouldings and any lower.

In the pic you can see after it was removed and bogged. the area was primed and sanded. The area ended up being 1/4 to1/3rd the size of the door .

ah u have 2 keep the key holes workin man i had central lokin and i decided 2 disconect the key hole from the actual look so it was just for looks but puttin the key in2 the lok done nuthing until my central lokin motors all went and couldnt open the doors from the outside and it was a very long process 2 fix.. so i wouldnt risk relyin on central lockin

people will still try to get in! have a read of street commodores forum, there was a member who took his handles out aswell, have a look and see what mechanism he used and you should be able to overcome the central locking problems. Or you could get your locking serviced (not as stupid as it sounds)
