Sorry to thread dig But does it matter if you don't swap the passenger rails or spacer over? Cuase i just put the passenger one in and it looks ok? But the drivers one needs the rails swapped as stated. And how do you know if you have s1 or s2 rails?

S1 rails will not come off the seats. If you can remove your rails they are S2. Passenger seat will sit too high on the inside (sloped towards the door) if you don't change the rail over.

You can use a left hand passenger seat rail as a left hand driver's seat rail, if that makes sense...

All you need is a S2 passenger seat from a VL, you use the right hand rail on the passenger seat, and the left hand rail on the driver's seat. That should make it easier than finding a pair of S2 seats.

Seats VT onwards have different brackets and the rails cant be swapped for VL-VS type, totally different seat bases so the seat base has to be pulled right apart, it can be done with great difficulty, do a thread Search.
I recommend buying VR/VS seats and getting a trimmer to put VL or your favorite trim in the centre.

digging up an old thread because noone has asked the question i need the anwser for
havent had time to look at the seats and my rails
im sure mine are vq or vs stato
i know the rears different from the front
but they look so similar it wont matter

my question is
can i just swap both rails
or the whole base?
saves swapping one rail over
found it easier to do to with my r31 skyline
when i put in buckets
but i may be wrong
never done a vl

and yes mines a vl2

cheering

I would like to do this as well but have had trouble getting S2 rails. Therefore I am going to try and get some sent from interstate. I realise the differences have been discussed but has anyone got any photos showing the differences between S1 and S2 seats as the seller is unsure.

Thanks in advance.

I have a photo from the seller. Can anyone please tell me if these are S1 or S2 seats? How they can tell the difference would be nice too. Thanks.

I think VY/VZ seats are completely different to the VR/VS seats that this thread is about. I dont think just swapping spacers/rails etc works for VY/VZ seats as it does for VR/VS ones. You are probably better off trying to find a more appropriate thread than this and I am pretty sure there is a thread detailing VY/VZ seat fitment. From memory there is a lot more involved in doing it. Sorry I cant be of any more help.

Here are a few threads I found:

http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...hlight=vt+seat
http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...hlight=vy+seat
http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showth...=fitting+seats

There is a lot of info in them with many different ways of going about it. I recommend reading everything you can and seeing which way is best for you before you start drilling holes. If you have time I am sure many people would appreciate a tech write up with photos. Good luck with it.
