v8 power steering pump differneces

Just setting up the accessories on my vn 5l engine. It was in a VH previously and I think the power steering pump is the older style as the hose connection comes straight out and is not bent up. I mounted it on the bracket for the VN motor and it looks as thought the pulleys are about 5mm out of alignment. Are the older pumps compatible with a vn v8 setup or do I need a pump off a vn? Are the pulleys on the pump different, could I just change this? Any advice would be appreciated.

from memory when I did my EFI conversion on my VL, I had to get a VN style harmonic balancer pulley so that all lined up.

That would make sense, I'm not sure what harmonic balancer I have on this engine even though its an VN onwards engine. Here's a pic:

And a shot of the alignment. It looks to me that the VN Pumps may have a differnt pulley on the front.

Any thoughts?

u need a vn power steering pump, the pulleys on the old pumps align different. also that looks like a vn harmonic balancer. once u change the pump it should all line up.

there should be 2 spacers/bushes between the bracket and the pump , the belts will line up. I've just done this conversion from a vh to a vs

There isn't any room on my bracket to space the pump so it will sit back further. From what I have found out it sounds like I need an early VN style pump, the pulley on it will sit around 4-5mm closer to the pump than this one and will line up with my harmonic balancer pulley.

Got a single step pulley, VN pump. Lines up pretty good. Here is a pic.
