rough power figure? 308 cam headwork

hey just wondering what sort of power a 308 would have with 286 crane, big valve heads, edelbrock manifold with 650dp, extractors, fairly standard bottom end i think?? cheers

Had a similar setup on my old 5L Calais, Think it made 235rwkw on the tafe dyno (Had heavily ported big valve heads and 10.1 comp)

Could have been, my mate took it in oneday.
Was a good setup and very streetable. Use to light the tyres at 60 with 3.08 gears.
Basic run down -
Full balance & blueprint, linish crank (had some movement prior to rebuild)
Slight bore, +30
Flat top pistons, 'x' rods
286 Crane Cam, W Gold Roller Rockers, Crane lifters
Decent valves and valve springs
Big Valve Heads, radically ported, flowed something like 460HP on the bench.
Edelbrock performer inlet manifold, 1 inch spacer plate
10.1 Comp
Holley 650DP, then upgraded to a 750DP
Run by a Holley Blue fuel pump
With a Trimatic & 3500 Dominator Eliminator stall.

I do miss it but after building it and working in the city, $200+ a week fuel bills were killing me.

Why are ppl so consumed by dyno figures.. they like swapping sheets of paper on a friday night in front of 7 eleven?

The black tar is the real dyno .

A decent 308 with 286 in proper setup should run anywhere from low 13 to high 12 depending on car of course .

No way, how could a dyno be inaccurate, there's a bloke on another forum who has seen 260+rwkw with a 286 with his own eyes

You know your 286 engine has been selected and tunned properly when it can push your early commodore to 114mph.

I never saw the dyno run, was just told the numbers, it could have been 225, i did say I think it was 235.

I did run consecutive 13.4 quarters at AIR, when you could race there as street drags, cant remember trap speed. Will need to dig up the slips.

My motor was in a VN and made 189rwkw and ran a 13 flat or something so you dont have 225rwkw.

a power figure does not directly relate to 1/4M ET.

355 with a 286 and top loader will still spin them no worries. good thing about the 286 is its still nice with a manual.. anything bigger and be ****ty then converters come into the pic.. i get bugger all cam lag aswell. with a stroker probably have the torque to compensate for the little there is
