in the back "wagon Part should the walls be carpeted as mine just look the same as my exec wagon?
did any wagons come out with elec boot release like sedans?
pics up soon
Brandons right for the most part.
1. The rear headrests appeared to be an option (probably one of the few options they came with) and the mount brackets are welded in on both the seat backs in my two. The A9Y rear seat back frame was also a different part number to all other VL wagons which would support this. All you'd need is four of those plastic tubes and another pair of front headrests and you're away, but they're a pain to see around in my VH sedan so would be as bad in a wagon.
2. HDT Calais wagons (non-A9Y wagons) got a carpeted rear. All ours got was the standard carpet on the wheel arch and the floor from the Berlina. Rear seat back is grey painted metal and the side panels and panel on the tailgate were grey painted fibreboard. Pretty cheap effort by GMH really.
3. No auto tailgate release unfortunately.

Thanks skid. Sad to hear that, although I'm doing the same to another one at the moment. If you ever come across any pics or even the rego number of it I'd be interested.

In theory. I haven't peeled back the fabric to really check it out 100%. I'd have a chat to Yeti.

I'm going on the brackets I can feel under the fabric and the fact that the parts book lists the A9Y rear seat back frame as a different number to all the others (that's for just the frame, nothing to do with the fabric), and that it also calls up the same part number for the rear headrests and pins as it does for the front.

i would of thought you could see some sort of spot welding on the seatback, where the brackets would be?

That's what it feels like, the same C-shaped brackets as the sedan welded into the frame, just never looked under the fabric to be 100% sure.
I should be able to tell you next month with pics as the whole car is getting painted and retrimmed.

Yep. I've got rolls of both the original plain grey and the stripy grey fabrics.

Even though the fabric on mine comes up amazingly clean, the front seats need doing and, when you compare the new fabric against a recently cleaned section, there's a sparkle and crispness in the new stuff that's missing in the old fabric.

Where'd you get that and do you know if it's still available? I'd love get some to re-do my front seats as well.

Just try various auto upholsters. It was hard to come by according to the guys I used in Adelaide a couple of years ago but others may have better luck. I don't know if it all comes from the same wholesaler or just whichever one put there hand up when Holden were selling of bulk rolls after production finished.

I asked for enough to do the whole car which they reckoned was 3m (1.4m wide) of plain grey fabric (hoodlining and seat backs) and 8m (1.4m wide) of ribbed grey fabric (everything else).

Three metres almost doesn't sound like enough for the headlining but I measured the longest section which is the B-pillar segment at 2.8m x 45cm) so with some clever cutting it should be enough.

Looks like it to me. Even having what looks like pristine freshly cleaned fabric in the car all you have to do is take off some of the door pinchweld to see how much the original fabric has discoloured over 20 years.

The fabric under the pinchweld or seatbelt fairing matches the grey on the roll almost perfectly.

Thanks Mick. I'm on the VL mailing list with carsales so I got that one yesterday morning. It's included in the latest totals.

Yep. Thanks Brandon. It's the third time it's been on Ebay in the last couple of months.

Nice looking car and history though. The original owner had it advertised for most of last year from country Qld. Just a pity it's not a turbo.
