Heres just a few pics of the interior

Ohh and also, I picked up these goodies from my local wreckers.
I was pretty lucky to get them as they were about to crush the last VL, It was a calais too.
I picked up a calais dash, The window moulds, The chrome gutters and the center console attachments.

I also got a black center garnish, And all the switches (air-con wipers ect..), and some cables and air-con hoses.
(I forgot to add them to the flicks.)

Other pages have more updates!

(Update) 25/4/2011

So over the past few weekends i've done abit of work to the interior, we have taken apart the whole front end and replaced the air csonditioner hoses and switches, also replaced all the speaker wires as they were pretty sketchy and also played with the head unit a little bit to try and figure out why it doesent work on accesory. Also we installed the new dash wich i spoke about earlier.
We wanted the dash's KM count (158130) to be the same and official, so we spent a bit of time taking apart the new dash and trying to figure out how to wind it back, we got there in the end..

The front apart

The dash

Also, whilst we were fixing the speaker wires i decided to take off the seat covers and see what condition the seat was in, to my surprise it was in mint codition, probably only sat on like twice. I was happy with that so i snapped up a pic, here it is:

The front seats arnt in as good as condition, They have sweat stains on them (i hope) so i'm hoping a good wash or dry clean will fix them..

Update on my new tail light and garnish (VK Berlina) will be up in a couple of days!

---------- Post added 17-05-11 at 13:37 ----------

(update) 1/5/2011

I've always hated the look of the VL execitive tail lights and garnish, So replacing them was always first on the list of things to do..

So i've decided on a VK berlina back end, Its pretty much alll black, Its alot like the calais back but without the white pin stripes up the top. Instead it the pin stipes are all black.
I bought a brand new pair of after market vk berlina tail light of eBay for $102..
also about a month ago i picked up a black vk garnish from the wreckers for only $20, It looked pretty old and crappy, But i de-badged it and sanded it down with some fine sandpaper and painted it with some gloss black vinyl paint.

Heres a photo of the VK lights:

Heres a photo of it all together:

i'll post a before and after pic up soon.

Cheers!

Nice car mate, looks very clean. Bumpers and bars are very straight which as getting harder to find, even mine are a little warped. The berlina lights look much better... ive got a set too. Id be looking at de badging the rear to neaten it up a little

Hunt around for a hi rise calais console

Get some chasers wheels if youre on a budget, respray them silver and get some center caps and chrome trims to dress it up. If not, any HSV rims will do the trick, please avoid chromies.

what else id be looking at..
momo steering wheel
lowering front and back
manual conversion
new exhaust with a dump tip
LSD/locked diff
Brake upgrade
Save up for boost $$

Cheers mate!
and you read my mind!
Most things what you listed was on my list!

Love to de-badge the back, but its had a fresh coat of blue and under is alot more faded, so that sucks.

as for the wheels, Just this last weekend i picked up some silver stockies of a VE, There 16inch and have been ground out to fit, But the sh!t thing is, they are rubbing on the bottom of the springs, And i dont really know how to get past this, well without spending the big bucks anyway.

cheers fpr the comment and suggestions bro!

---------- Post added 18-05-11 at 14:43 ----------

Update (18/5/2011)
So i saved up a little amount of cash, And i saw a pair of VE 16' stockies on eBay with tyers already on them wich had about 65% of tread on them.
I figured i'd get them, all i had to get done was get the centers ground out to fit, i got that done for $60.

I chucked them on and hers how they look: It's a ****ty pic..

I was planning to get center caps and thought they looked decent, They raised up the car alot but anyway..

BUT the bad thing is, The two front wheel rub on the bottom of the springs, and the springs actually move when i turn the wheels..

I can't really be botherd spending more money and fixing it all up, So i've decided to get a cheap pair of silver 15ichers, Hopefully these will work!

cheers!

Needs to be lowered... thats next on the list. You CAN just cut the back springs, with shortened shocks its okay, not too dodgey
Get some new struts for the front from king spring or find some 2nd hand ones for cheap. VL parts are everywhere in viccy!

What size are the tyres on em? Im surprised they're scrubbing

cheers for the comment man,
Yeah lowering would be sweet as, But i need to wait atleast a month or two to get started on those sort of mods..
Yeah i'll deffs look into them parts..
oh and btw, The new stockies raised it up like hell, it wasnt sitting to bad before.

As for the tyre size, they're 225/60.. I heard the ideal size would be 225/50.

The sub is a 12'' 600 watt candence xenith, It bangs surprisingly hard. So i'm really happy with it,

Not bad mate the only thing i can think of making the wheels scrub is your shocks are leaking and needing to be replaced

Update (12/8/2011)

So i took it to the road worthy centre about 2 weeks ago, And its currently up to scratch, But i had to fix a couple of little things..
They were:
2 new tyers (bought 4 new ones and got it aligned)
fixed gear stick light (reflector fell down)
replaced back number plate light
greased up a door handle
screwd down speakers

Their is just one thing left, And that is that there is a slight hole in the center muffler. Which i can get welded up but if that doesn't work i have to replace the whole lot..
I got quoted $120 if i have to get the whole lot replaced.

I was also thinking instead of replacing the muffler to just take the whole muffler and put like an exhaust tube in it's place, pretty much get rid of it. But i was wondering if that was legal or would it be to loud? whyat do you guys think?
cheers!

looks pretty damn good for a first car, but those cepters look weird like the holes are too small, maybe its a VE thing

about the muffler you can just get it cut out, the peeps doing your RWC would be assholes if they didnt pass you for that but then again it might be different in VIC to NSW.

Oh and you can probably de-badge the back and clean up the paint with some ordinary household jif, did it to mine and it came up nice, the faded paint is cut away by the abrasives in the jif

good luck!

Cheers for checking it out man, Yeah i sold them VE stockies, Now i've got a set of 15x7's of a cop van...

and with the badges, i've tried heaps of stuff, but as seems as if the glue has almost eaten away at the paint, either that or someone before me has sprayed the car again with them on, Because in some parts under the badges its all rough and almost bubbled up, I might chuck up i pic and see if anyone can help.

thanks man!

once it's on the road its time for the MODS!

Here's a couple of pics untill then..

Update (14/11/2011)

I've installed the 2.5' RedBack cat back exhaust pipe, It it does have a very nice note too it..
The old stock one was a bit hard too get off due too rust, so we ended up angle grinding her off. haha.
Heres a ****ty pic of the pipe..

The car was running a tad rough so up next was replacment of the fan belts and spark plugs (Tricky Jobs!) and here is a pic of a new spark plug and a old one..

I also decided too give the headlights a bit of a clean, But i failed hard. so i got some new aftermarket lights and blinkers off eBay for about $95, and they look 100% better. here is a pic.

I still have glass O.G headlight lenses if anyone is interested in them..

And here is juist a picture of the beast i took like a week ago..

cheers!

So the only thing i've had left to do is fix the oil leaks, or as the rw centre said clean the engine of all oil stains..
So i got the old aussie export degreaser and high pressure washer out today and gave it a good clean!
Hopefully all goes good at the roadworthy centre amd she should be on the road by christmas!
