Plastidip

hey everyone,

whats everyones thoughts on plasti dip? i want to change colours on my vl and i thought this may be the best option while i save up for a full bare metal respray.

my questions are -

has anyone done it before for a full car?
what is the texture like?
does the gloss finish actually look decent?

the product looks awesome on small items and i've seen a lot of people do a full car spray. but i don't want to put it all on and then see that it looks crap and it feels like rubber.

cheers everyone

The big question is, how much would it cost to do a whole car? It's not that cheap for a small spray can?

The guy on youtube has been very informative with his product demo's. It's probably worth asking him some questions about texture and gloss finishes. In fact most of the youtube channels have shown the gloss and they look decent on the smaller items.

You're probably better off just saving up for a full respray though. Assuming the plasti dip stuff costs you 500 bucks to paint, that's 500 bucks you could have used on a full respray.

I've seen those YouTube videos "dipyourcar.com" or something. They have a website but I don't think they ship to Australia. Unless its a daily beat up your better off getting a cheap respray I would think.

It's a current trend, looks good tho. If you're getting a proper respray, save your cash money for that as you'll need every penny, a good paint job is not cheap.

I did a paint course with Ol at Tafe a while back, and was told that you can get your car resprayed for an affordable price by final year apprentices. Maybe that could be an option?
