No, because they have more than likely been adjusted in the past. Early commodores are known for their generous tolerances. If you are doing a lowering job, i reccomend a wheel-alignment anyway.

Correct they could & probably have been adjusted in the past, but I have been told on a few occasions that one side should be a mirror image of the other. I'm not saying the factory positions are where they should be - i was just saying if they are in different positions and if he is changing his suspension then he could put them in the factory positions and then get the alignment place to correct it if need be.

If they are in different positions to each other and have been aligned in this way it is possible that it has been done because something in the setup is bent, twisted, broken or faulty.

I'm done want to get into a massive argument i am just passing on knowledge that has been passed on to me about various issues. What i have been told does make sense though. Well it does to me anyways...

Wairau Suspension (Also known as Wairau Alignment) should be able to. They are on Currys Lane, which is off Wairau Road. They have done a few for me and they were a lot better than some of the normal tyre shops: Bridgestone, Frank Allen, beaurepairs etc etc.

They aren't cheap - but you pay for what you get. Having said that i don't think it's much more than the other places mentioned above. Just ring them and talk to them - (09) 444-4994. I usually deal with Merv, he has had a lot of experience.

Cheers,

Jason

I've only had 1 alignment done, that was on my 2L, I took it to a place in Browns Bay and for some reason the guy thought it had been lowered and said I'd have to go to Mag & Turbo or something, suspension is stock though so it was ok there.

Yeah i was actually there this afternoon...Thought i had to get my front struts shortened for the lowered springs, but the guy didnt think it was needed so i saved about 150 bucks lol

Ill have to take it back there for an Alignment when its done...

Alignments should be done every 5,000kms and after any height change as that affects the alignment big time

I’ve never heard of a shop that can’t do an alignment on lowered cars, I do know of some places that don’t have big enough clamps to fit on large rims. I had to remove my Walky front bar for the lasers to see each other across the front each time I got an alignment

With heaps of neg camber I suggest asking for a little more toe in to wear tyres evenly

KYB are a reasonably good brand. The make a few options for the rear of live axel commodores. A few shortened options, one of which is a heavy duty short stroke which i have been told is a very good shock.

They tend to be cheaper than Monroe and i have heard they are great value for money.

I think Matt (4sakenvl) is using KYB's in his car - i'm not 100% sure though - i'm sure he will confirm on deny

Yeah they are a pretty good brand for the money. I'd go KYB over Monroe any day. You need to do the front now!
