for those that keep asking the Differences + extras - VL BT1

VL BT1 INFORMATION

BT1 is police pack which was fitted to SL (base model)
Can be V8, turbo or N/A.
*Ignoring the V8. Engines were stock N/A or turbo (both with no mods)

*Bt1's are ex cop cars
*BT1 is printed on the compliance plate in the engine bay.
*Optional long range fuel tank of 83 litres
*They have an executive style interior, with a calais interior light.
*Some Bt1's have one-kph increments on the speedos
*Some have map holder/bucket things on the front doors
*They have the ashtrays on the front door armrests
*Optional LSD
*BT1's didnt have power steering.
*BT1s came with FE2 suspension
*four wheel discs
*If Automatic Transmission came with trans cooler
*interior Changes in BT1: calais interior light, full instrument dash, no lock out on auto shifter, different door pockets, interior light door switches disabled
*BT1s came with sump guard, fuel tank guard, heavy duty wiring, police wheels (which are silver 15" Interceptor rims)

The V8 version of the BT1 however, came with a few little engine mods, (eg. flat top pistons etc.)

On the Roof Of the BT1 u may find the Faint Black Letters from there Police days in which has usually been Sprayed over but still sometimes visable

White VL ceptors are ones generally from NSW and WA, most of then had A/C but no Power Steer

Yellow ceptors from QLD are a little bit different yellow to VIC ones but some had Steer and no A/C and some were around the other way.

Most ceptors had long range tanks espically NSW and VIC ones, I have had all three eastern state ones

Had white one from NSW, was auto, had power steer but no a/c

Had yellow one from QLD, no long range tank and no steer but had a/c

Had yellow one from VIC had long range tank and a/c no steer

If you have a ceptor it should have the calais interior light fitted to it and like FLWLSS said should be stamped on ID plate with BT1

Went with a mate on the weekend looking for a BT1 and out of the 4 we looked at 2 of them were fake ones sprayed yellow, one even still had drum brakes on the rear

hahah yer there is a lot of dodgy ones around, the 1 thing i find funny is all these guys saying BT1s had chips heads + cams, when there exactly the same as any other VL turbo apart from those extras i stated above

Where is the switch? I've seen em on VP's and VR's, but never on a VL.

Now, for the really picky, I've just run through the parts book and, on top of what FLWLSS said, extra's listed for BT1's are -

Roof Rail Wiring Harness (probably removed when Police sold them).

Both early and late production front seats are different (possibly just a trim thing as they both had lumbar supports whereas the standard SL's didn't. Something like an SL-trimmed seat with lumbar supports I guess).

Lead for Auxilliary Speedo

Tacho (Different part number to any others listed)

Wheel Nut Wrench (Also different part number to any other)

Tyre Placard, Wheel Nuts and Wheel Caps (Stands to reason)

Battery Terminal Studs (Not clear what these are. Holden part though. May be for easier clamping)

Turn Signal Flasher (Different to all others listed)

Dual Horns (Seperate Option U05 for Police, maybe not on all)

There is no mention of Calais interior lights, fuel tank guard or heavy duty wiring but I'd imagine each individual States Police workshop optioned them up to suit the jobs they were doing at the time and the parts book can't be taken as gospel here. These were just the standard parts they came with out of the factory before the Police got them.

The one increment speedo's were a seperate Police option (U11) and as FLWLSS listed they were not fitted to all.
