have spent all night on the phone, have alot of backing for this from various people from all walks of life, all sharing the same passion.

For those interested simply just reply in this thread with an idea as to how you would want to go about this.
Once we have afew on board Inflytmelb has kindly offered his offices as a meeting place for afew who are whilling to really get out there.
This is going to happen, so either jump on board and show em what we stand for or just go un noticed and keep getting screwed your choice.
So far it seems like either a large turnout to a council meeting...or a charitable show and shine
Keep ideas rolling and jump on board!!!

Im all for a charitable show and shine..Even though it is often hard to find a good enough venue.. Which would also be a great place to get names down for the petition as written petitions are actually worth something as apposed to online ones.

If we can get a big petition signed and raise money for a charity(possibly something local to the sandown park area) it will be a win win.

I was with a large group of mates tonight speaking about this issue.
Street racing will never die down, its a part of life and a sub culture that will stay round till we are in little hover crafts and even then we will be attempting to do the same.
If the Government opened up more tracks for car enthusiast like others have stated in previous posts we wouldn't have so much of a problem. Yes we have been labeled hoons for a reason and we cant say none of us part take in illegal activities.
But if the Government did open tracks the problem wouldn't be as bad as it is today. The problem is they would just say it would be deemed to expensive, but whats worth more, the lives of people or the Government spending cash on pathetic crap.

Cruise probably wouldn't work like Brett has said, leaving it up to the big heads would only get to reasoning and not something that would help the situation.
If WE ALL did something to show how much it is affecting us then we MUST do something and not kick bak waiting for it.

show and shine seems like it will work better, another problem with a cruise
is with cars in excess of 500+ will cause the lots of breaking in the convoy
and some major traffic problems.

im a little confused as to what we are protesting about know?

Is it to save the easternats or stop the harassment on us as a community by the police or both?

Either way im all for whatever's being planned but we need a clear goal/target because at the moment i cant make out exactly what the point of this protest is.

so whats it about? lol

thats what im trying to say, theres 6 pages in this thread and no clear goal has been set

Once we have a goal that we are looking to achieve we can start looking into stratergies to tackle it.

but at the moment everyones just voicing random opinions

Someone set a target we are looking to achieve before getting all excited

simple mate↲
As some know i spent the better part of an hour on hold trying to get on 3aw clearly only to go unheard, my main point was to express how people with a vivid interest towards cars and those who just repeatedly have a blatent disregard for the law are getting painted with the same brush↲↲

all that we are trying to achieve is more areas where this activity is not an issue↲
There are safe injecting rooms for users but on the other hand tracks and events are getting stopped↲↲

go figure

ok so the main goal of this protest is to have more facilities for motoring enthusiests to perform the activities we enjoy.

If thats the case i can see where this is going. We will just be told Calder will be re-opening soon and we have to wait for that

best plan of attack is to wait for the everyone involved with the easternats to do what they need to do, because we are not in the position to do anything about that yet.. then once something is sorted out we can then worry about facilities for doing what we love.
It wouldnt hurt imho to organise more public events representing calais turbo in the future, cause eventually the public may turn to our side??

As said previously this isnt about the easternats

yep atm the moment lets just see what happens with easternats then we can organise our plan of attack but even if john does manage to save easternats AGAIN! there will be consequnces like last time! now the police are allowed in the car park whats next they are gonna be allowed to give canaries and epas to cars that are in the event! its bull**** they keep trying to take easternats off us to get more into the event and stuff us up! like what happend this year! cars were getting canaried in the car park! thats wrong!

Would it be worth getting some stickers printed, something along the lines of 'more venues, less illegal draging.....' etc?

Gets the message out there where everyone can see it, people become more aware of the issue behind some of this anti social behavior.

Down here doing laps of sturt st is pretty much the most common way to meet up with others who share a bit of passion for their cars. Its on evey night, and anyone can join.
Unfortunantly this often results in some dangerous driving, lets face it people are always going to be competitive around others, especially when cars are involved.
I honestly believe if we could get something decent going thats local where we could do this kinda thing legally then the street racing issue down here wouldnt be so bad.
156 cars impounded down here this year i think... lol

In the sth eastern suburbs we dont have a drag strip or burnout pad where we can do it legally. I was told the closest place for a skid pan to hire is 2 hrs drive, correct me if im wrong. If a venue like Calder was opened im sure a majority of us would rather head down than risk it on the streets. i for one would rather pay 20 or so dollars to pop some tyres on a skid pan rather than doing it illegally.

paparazzi all well and good, but truth is street racing/burnouts are done cause people love the rush etc, itd limit it no doubt but nothing could really stop it i guess

What would be awesome is a strip open to anyone anytime...imagine if calder was a 24hr place no officials etc just race away, you stack it unlucky

That would be good man, but then what happens if someone stacks it bad and hurts them selves. Some drunk wankers rock up n start trouble, it would turn a mess.
A track that was built by the Government and run by volunteers that were trained by people who actually work at the drags. Im sure a number of people wouldn't mind helping out on a friday/saturday night. Even if there were spectators who paid 5-10 buks entry, 15-20 for a burnout till ur tyres are gone and 20-25 for a run. They could clean up with a track like that opened.

Does anyone read the RACV magazine? I can only assume some of you must.

I happened to pick it up tonight and read two letters from readers. I threw it across the room in rage. We have a uphill battle ahead of us; we're fighting with sticks against invincibile robots with laser cannons, uphill.
