Hey there, i'm new to this site and just thinking about building an RB25/30DET and just want to learn more about the RB30ET and if it's easy to get a cheap RB30ET block and so.

If you're thinking of a rebuild start off with a s2 n/a motor. they're cheap as chips and if you're planning a rebuild who cares what comp they run factory. The block itself is the same as the turbo block as well.

There is also an awesome guide to the twin cam conversion on the SAU forums i think....

You, my friend, need to do some research.

Read this, ALL of it:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...b30+conversion

Then you may ask questions. Doubt that you'll still have any.

thx for the replys.

at the moment i just want to find out if its easy just to find the RB30ET block and how much i need to spend for it 'coz i don't want to buy full engines (i think just the block comes much cheaper, also for shipping to Germany)

Holly ****.... your from Germany with a r32 Nissan skyline and you come to an Australian Holden vl turbo forum for information and cost of building a rb30/25det lol (Sorry i just find that funny.)

I was hoping to see you owned a vl turbo, would be the only one in germany

Do you have nissan patrols in germany? Alot of these (not all) came out with the RB30 carburettored motor. Could be worth chasing that up rather than paying thousands to get one imported.
They came in nissan skylines from the late 80s too in an injected non turbo version. The rest is just pipe work.

If they are an option for you then it would be cheaper than buying one in australia and paying to have it freighted in. Way cheaper.

if your gonna rebuild it your better off getting an n/a block rather then a turbo one since your gonna change everything in it anyway, plus it would have had an easier life then a turbo block aswell

n/a engines go for around $200 for a good one and turbo one around $1000

not sure on the price for just the block but yer for the sake of $200 your better off getting a naturally aspirated engine

just my thoughts

by the way i think its cool/weird a person from germany comes on this forum to research rb engines

calais turbo for the win!!!

If you read the link I posted Foxy29, you really would be better of sourcing a series 2 RB30 block in Germany (or at least mainland Europe) - an RB30ET block will have 7.8:1 compression pistons, and is far too low for a 25/30 application. Sourcing a block closer to home will mean you can get one with non-turbo pistons (same strength, but higher compression [8.3:1 in a 25/30 setup]), quicker, and much cheaper.

Oh, and I have a plethora of series 2 N/A blocks in my backyard, with and with pistons/crank. PM if you're interested.

International 25/30 FTW

RB30ET block is the same as an RB30E block - pistons differ.

thx a lot for all those replys

about the Nissan Patrol i've seen that there comes out with some RB30S Engine but i'm not sure about if they was also been sold in Germany (maybe in the UK but don't know)

there also was some RB20DET in Z31 but never been sold in Germany they only have V6 engine.

at the moment i am still thinking of RB26 head and RB30 block 'coz its better for higher power (but i want to use it with the covers from RB20 )

so, first i'm lookin for the block and decide than what kind of head i take.

the only things i am still wondering about is what pistons i should take (CP Pistons or something from tomei or so?) also about the metal head gasket and crankshaft i'm not sure about, any recomments?

CP pistons do pistons for a rb26 head on a rb30 block and they go for around 1350au dollars, crank you just use the standard RB30 crank that u get with the block, they are strong enough for what u want, and headgasket id use a cometic multi layer headgasket
