Ve Hsv W427

This thing is sure to be a show stopper.

For 150 grand you get a 7 litre ls7 v8 with a full dry sump system, A tremec TR6060 6 speed manual transmission, a "unique" high performance LSD, 20inch alloys with 275/35's on the rear and 245/35 up front with 6piston calipers & 380mm strap drive floating rotors.

You also get a high flowing exhaust system that has solenoid actuated baffles that open up to improve flow and noise under certain conditions determined by the computer. The suspension is 30% stiffer then the hsv GTS and the traction control and ESP are tuned for the w427.

The v8 has 375kw of power and 640nm of torque and it's estimated that it'll push the heavy VE from 0-100km/h in 4.6-4.7 seconds, making it the fastest australia car ever built.

Did someone say fuel consumption? 17.2l/100km average

The question is is it really worth the 150grand price tag for an extra 58kw? Thats almost double the price of a gts. Only 427 people will know, and they can even watch their car being built.

IMO, that front end has GOT to be changed. Very ugly.
Same with the wheels.

The interior is pretty damn plain for $150,000 too......

Very overpriced too.....
- 0.3 seconds off the GTS 0-100km/h time
- 100hp more
- 0.8L more
- almost twice as much $$$ ......

I assume its so expensive because theres only 427 of them, but still.....

GM ...... Give me a Cadillac CTS-V instead thanks.
Or give me a HSV that looks good, with the W427 running gear, nicer better quality interior, and about $40,000 dollars less...
(well ... Tom Walkinshaw, not GM)

yeah as you said its the exclusivity, only 427 of them.

but apart from that, you've got that whole dry sump thing going on which is worth a lot of money. sure the straight line speed to 100 k's is improved only slightly, but it says there the suspension is stiffer, and the traction control revised, so anyone wanting to take it to the track will probably rape a gts... i suppose the rest of the pirce difference is in the brakes (not that the gts ones are all that much rubbish), and the exhaust system, which is the same sort of thing that maserati's and the like have on them. would be nice to have that sort of money to spend on a car...

or gimme a 2nd hand 2001 PORSCHE 911 996 Turbo for a "little bit more"...

or a newish BMW M3.....

OR...a 2007/2008 AUDI RS4....

or....the new GTR (private import)

or... just a normal HSV GTS + a big turbo

still i dont mind the looks of the W427, i wouldnt mind it in black, dumped on its arse.

overpriced, ugly and by comparison you can buy a gts and have more power and still save yourself 50g, for 150g i would expect a blowjob everytime i got in and out of the car. at the end of the day its a holden, not a ferrari

I was at holden a couple of weeks back pondering over a VZ Clubby and watched them deliver one to the Belconnen dealership. I then watched some pansy suit sign the papers and ever so gently drive away in it

Well no guy in dirty overalls is going to be able to afford one. Plus you’d be a moron to trash the nutts off a brand new car

Sure and I wouldn't buy one when I could have a GTS with 1000hp+ for less money, but it all comes down to supply and demand... there isn't many of them and like any low build number HSV they will be in high demand (for those with too much cash in the bank)

nice but at what cost

my mate took one for a drive-gave a 50 k depoist prior-

cam back later and cancel the order and bought a ve maloo-

i bought him a ls7 that we are fitting in and it was still way under 100k-(his money his choice but 50 k is 50 k)

bottom line its nothing that specail-427 cube-some suspension stuff-nice hsv air intake-

ugly wheels with big ass rotors and caliper's-

and next couple of years their will be a limited number of a other hsv car-

big deal i say-

each to their own-

Thanks

Nick--

I love it when people come out with the "I can get <Insert car here> to go faster for cheaper" line.

It's like saying you could get a VLT to go faster down the 1/4 mile than a Enzo Ferrari, but really who gives a sh*t when the Enzo is a much rarer car. Same deal here.

I have no doubt you could get a VE GTS, with mods to whoop its ass, but at the end of the day there's only an exclusive number of these made. That's what will attract buyers.

The overall style of it is similar to the Walky. You either love it or not. I think it's a nice looking car, and by the looks of the list airbagsVL posted it's certainly more than just another Commodore.

I know of a few that have already been bought and straight into storage. Probably not a bad investment. Recently a GTS-R blueprint sold for 200k. They were 90k brand new and people bagged the **** out of them on release as well. More than double your money in 12 years is on par with property. Oh yeah with out the massive stamp duty
