SLY6 - Custom VE Calais Project

G'day everyone! After deleting my last thread I've decided it would be an opportune time to create a new one! (SCROLL DOWN FOR PROGRESS PICTURES)

This is my '06 VE Calais, a project I've been slowly working on since May 2008, and soon to be completed (est. October 2009, before C4C6).

Those of you from the North + North-Eastern suburbs may know my car.

Current Mods:
- SSV Rims
- Full Blaupunkt Velocity Stereo System (four 6" speakers, two 12" subs @ 600WRMS, tweeters, 2CH 800W amp and 4CH 600W amp)
- HSV Senator front bar w/ foglights
- Crystal Vision Globes (not important but thought I'd list them anyway)
- Fully debadged boot
- Repositioned Calais badge with red passion internal colouring
- Aftermarket chrome boot strip
- Debadged front with top right positioned "Calais" badge
- Red LED footwell and boot light strips.
- SLY6 number plates.

Soon to be completed mods:
- Rims painted in gloss black with "SLY6" stenciled in gloss red on one spoke per rim, in the VE Calais font (http://i27.tinypic.com/a4x4p3.jpg)
- Whitewalls courtesy of Troy, aka CR3AM and OBAABY from instant whitewalls.
- HSV GTS Rear Bar
- HSV GTS Rear LED lights + Infill caps
- HSV GTS Side Skirts
- Window Tint
- Painted engine cover with stencil.

Future Mods:
- Red leather inserts to replace partial cloth trim.
- 'Calais' stitching in seats.
- HSV flutes (debadged)
- Chrome mirror scalps
- Chrome door handle moulds

No, it is not lowered nor will it ever be!

Pictures:

As I got it, May '08.

C4C5, only whitewalls and SSV's were done.

Subs Installed.

New plates, fresh paint, shaved badges, quad exhausts and new bar.

You can vaguely make out the chrome strip and new badge in this photo.

New badge + aftermarket chrome strip.

The plans which should be completed by October 2009.

Hope you all enjoyed! Stay tuned for more

Looks good. Got a few questions for you;

Why wont it ever be lowered?

Are you going to do the HSV tail light conversion?

It will never be lowered simply because it won't ever get down my driveway, I can't afford bags for VE, and my neighbourhood isn't safe enough to leave it on the street!

And yeah, I'm doing the HSV tail light conversion hopefully soon, all I need are the parts for the rear and a couple of resistors for the tail lights and she'll be all sweet

no point in modding a car to this extent if it's not gonna be lowered to suit.. would look wayy out of wack.. none the less the car looks good.. is that a grange/statesman front end?

GMLXRY got it right, it's a VE Senator front end.

And it'll suit without looking out of wack, I've made sure to have it sitting at stock height in all photoshops, and it's half the reason I'm getting whitewalls on it.

It'll be executed just right

UPDATE:

Tonight a very mad English woman in a Daewoo decided it would be very acceptable to tail gate me, and as a result, managed to rear end me and screw up the back end of my car.

It's going into the shop tomorrow to be fixed, not very happy because it throws off all my plans for the car, but I'll keep you all posted!

Okay, so I went to town.

12 months later:

Since then:

Lowered 2 inches
HSV Rear Conversion/SS Side conversion
19" Flappers
iPad H/U with custom touch screen A/C controls (1 of 4 in the world)
Body colored headlights w/ white LED halo's
two 20" LED TV's in boot (not fully installed yet)

and a few other things I guess, but enjoy for now!

What the hell! iPad headunit with aircon controls - You know more people are going to ask, more detail on that, pics of the screen etc

Looks damn nice. And actually doesn't look that bad sitting at that height.

Ahhh they always do! for VE though it's impossible to do.

An older car, very possible, just wire the right cable into power and RCA's.

---------- Post added 23-12-10 at 10:48 ----------

I say impossible because an iPad H/U in a VE requires A/C controls specific to VE, and only four were made.
