Spot on performance debut vlt wagon at jamboree

So, it's been a long time coming to get this car back to life.

Most of you may remember the wagon from years ago running airbags etc and being a nice all round street cruiser.

Well a 6 week build at 'spot on performance and fabrications' from up here in Queensland changed everything to do with the old girl.

I won't do a full write up now on it, but will all come in due time.

For it's first meet she did us proud.

Eventually ran a pb of 9.23 @ 150mh and took out best wheelstand.

Plenty more in the tank over the next few months and hoping to dip into the 8's really soon. Seeing this w'e was run on the soft tune, im sure it's more than capable.

Anyway, massive cheers to Andy and Danny at spot on and the extended pit crew, special thanks to Graham at turbowerx for saving the w'e for us and efi for all the tuning.

Sorry I haven't uploaded pics as I'm on my iPhone, I'm sure someone will throw some up sooner or later as there are heaps floating around on the net from the weekend

Can still crush a can under that rear.

Congrats on the time.

So does this make it the fastest wagon? if not of all models? re VB-VE

incredible turnaround from what the car was. why not start with a bog stocker if you were going to do so much work? i'd imagine except for the paint not much is left of the bagged vl?

not hating, just wondering.

he bought it off me for a fairly good price.. but im sure he kept getin ***ed around by QLD cops due to airbag suspension.. then a rear bag blew and it sat in his garage and slowly stipped her down...

Yeh you are right about starting from scratch.

But as Andrew said I copped a fair bit from the cops up here and received to main roads inspection notices in two days. So pulled it off the road and sold the motor and box that input in it, as I wasn't happy with the set up what so ever.

So to sell it off and start again was going to be a mission in itself.

So thought bugger it, we'll use what I already have and build it the way we want too. Wasn't the most 'wallet' friendly way of doing it, but cars never are.

I more than happy with the ways its gone and gas been worth the wait and hassles.

for sure, on the upside you were confident about the base you started with and there was an attachment to it already.

stunning anyway. this car was awesome when i was 15 and now it has grown with my style, its back in a kore standard form and that engine bay is top notch. so all in all thats a fair achievment in my eyes.

Well, she runs in 'modified 10.5', so does run larger tubs. Videos now on you tube under 'spot on performance' and 'spot on vl chassis twisting'.

was good to see it out but would be better if the owner drove it and not handed the keys to spoton boys for the weekend.

Don't worry, I'll eventually get behind the wheel. I didn't have time to get a license or do any passes at test and tunes. All in due time. I wouldn't say I handed the keys to spot on to race. Andy at spot on is my best mate, and without him and Danny on board for the build, the car would still be sitting in the garage.

The whole idea was to build it right the first time, take it on its first outing and throw down some real numbers. And that wasn't going to happen with me behind the wheel. Danny has driven plenty of big hp cars and wasn't going to let any of us down. After all the money spent and hours put into the build, there was no way I was going to take it to jamboree and run piss weak times.

Neither myself or spot on wanted to see that happen.

I'm sure if you look around, alot of big hp cars getting raced are not owner driven at the track.

I'm glad I can trust them to take my car racing while I'm at work earning money to find the next stage of the build.

This is just the beginning

I only just read this forum on the wagz. Ha ha ha

But well said Josh. Alot of people don't understand what it takes to race these cars to there full potential let alone just hang on to it.
Went are talking about a 800hp race car with a 10.5 slick under her it's a handful it's not a stock rb30 with a dose pipe it's serious ****.
So for anyone that has a go at ya they obviously have never been close enough to a race car to understand it's not a walk in the park hanging on to these cars.
