The RE4R03A is a great trans and the first high performance 1 i seen in person is in a black BA/BF xr6 turbo and the owner loves it, and has been in it for about 3yrs or so...........

Good thing about this trans for the street is when u shift of flick the switch into OD aka overdrive the trans, automatically locks the converter from the oiling system. When u give it the LU aka Lock up automatically disengages.

Goran from GZM build's them but not sure for a GTR but im sure he can.............

Isn't it funny how you can completely adapt a new (stronger) transmission for less than the cost of a bunch of factory parts that go together? I guess some figure its better to make less sales at 100% profit or more sales at 25%

It'll only take a 1-2 cars like yours exploiting how easy the conversion is as well to render the RE4 useless at the price asked for it. I found the price quite rude to be honest, I know how much auto's cost to build

Oh no Jules, they have to recover development costs you see As far as I am led to believe from others that have done the conversion the only custom parts in the box are output shaft to the transfer case, and the obvious like custom valve body and machining for more clutch packs etc. To their own detriment anyway, both you and I would have already ordered one at $4500 or so, and thats just of those people involved in this discussion. I'm gonna wait for Pual to do a RE 4 seed for the GTR we are building, but it won't be anywhere near as insane as yours

im going to make sure this glide gets a workout.. direct port gas kit from the states is on the plane for me this gtr will be every bit as streetable as my vl was before the clutchless julz spec anti lag = 50 shots on the steering wheel for the low down rpm

should see the power curve look pretty vertical past 10000rpm

the 1jz will have a a340 behind it. you would have to be a goose to put a nissan box behind a toyota motor. MV automatics in south australia do a stage 2 a340 which is good to 980rwhp. i ran a 9.8 at 151 mph with one 3 years ago when the cressida weighed 3600 pounds off the foot brake. beauty is they have a lock up clutch so they are very streetable.

Joe from Wollongong Automatics has built plenty of RE4s and Subaru Transmissions (Rigoli).
When fitting behind a Chev, he buys a semi completed JW Bellhousing and gets the base modified to suit the RE4.

Is there a reserve manual valve body available for RE4R03A trans???

Also is it just a simple adaptor plate to get it behind a windsor or cleveland???

We only do Forward Pattern Valve Bodies. Someone else does a Reverse Pattern Unit.
I'll get hold a Cleveland Bellhousing Wednesday and check whether a Ring will work.

The th400 came factory with a transfer case. Is this the transfer case you use for the conversion? or is it weak or on the wrong side?

We use Forward Pattern for 4 reasons:
At any speed you can upshift to get to Neutral- bang an engine etc
Engine Braking- Internal Sprags are supported by Clutch Packs
Allows for Lock Up Torque Converter
We have designed a Module that modifies Line Pressure and controls Lockup for more sedate city driving.
TH400 Factory Transfer Case (Suit New Process Transfer Cases) is far too different.
The Adaptor is not the problem, its machining the Billet PG Output Shaft from a Forging, then getting it Hardened. I'm trying to convince my US supplier that he should do this.
