MY N/A VL wagon auto did a 16.4 at WSID. just has a pod filter and exhaust.
Its now turbo though way better

i dont get it..

... why is it that vlt autos are quicker than the vlt manuals??????

and with the NA's its the opposite?

surely its not the 'take off' ? :/

VLT's autos dont lose boost between gears like a manual will. N/a's just can't spin an auto because they are gutless. You lose 30% of the power from an auto backed N/A (or turbo) and less with a manual.

did a 16.056@86mph tonight, its stock other than extractors and exhaust!

Oh and its 5 speed!

i got a 17.1 auto with pacemakers and extractors.
Now have manual, k&n, crow cam, soon to have an xf and will be going to the drags hopefully within a month to see how much better it goes. Hoping for a 15.5.

running my car down again next wednesday too hopefully run a 15.7-9 even tho nothing has changed except.

home made CAI.
fresh tires.
new tailshaft.

i'd be syked if i had an N/A running 16's... i remember when mine was N/A and it struggled to beat anything that wasnt a clapped out VN!!!

even when i had the turbo motor put in, on standard boost and with a 3" exhaust and cooler i still got completely mauled by a gen 3 vt calais...

things are a bit different now, because i eat xr8s and xr6t's for breakfast...
but thats only after running 13psi and putting in a malpassi...

and compared to a stock VLT (with cooler an exhaust) the gen3's arent slow. infact, theyre still pretty quick. so theres no way an N/A would keep up to it. no way, no how.

Found this interesting although it only lists the VL Turbo buzzbox & not the Na model unfortunately.

Just say you had 25% friction on the roller dyno due to driveline, tyres etc that would be around 148hp at the engine.
Thanks mate, if any body else has some figures i would like to see them.

we've got an 2006 ML500 and it's no slouch... definately not a 12 sec car tho haha, not even a 14 sec car by the seat of the pants feel i don't think

ran my car again last night. as i said nothing is different except for cold air.

ran a few time with my 17's on and brand new tyres. as soon as id launch it would start spinning so i ran a few 17 sec passes.

changed tyres to 15" ceptors and had a few runs , better results instantly.

15.993 @ 139kmh 86mph 2.41 60FT launch @ 3000rpm
15.815 @ 139kmh 86mph 2.24 60FT launch @ 3000rpm

was good night really enjoyed myself got to do alot more runs then last time. the only think that was bothering me was the start. launch to hard it would start spinning . launch too soft it would be slow.

15.8 is pretty good. Try some 4.11's for a tester if you have some free time.

spool. and possible mild cam and adjustable cam gear. hopefully improve a bit.

diff gears would be good

The ML 650 will. It's a weapon. I've driven an s600 and thats quick for a 2 1/2 ton car!

Oh and 4bangn ,thats a great time. Good stuff.

I should add, that timeslip above of mine was with a dodgy auto and a stock exhaust system. A few things have changed since. Last run was a 16.1

try running 15psi in the rear tires, and more than usual in the front. dont be scared to rev the thing and dump the clutch, you will find that there is a certain way to do it. i had my stocko running 15.7's and 60ft 2.2.

try a turbo.....nah I got a re-grind cam and lifter cradles if you want them. I will sell them cheap.
