1985 Suzuki Mightyboy
Thought ide put a bit of a speal about my daily, and its long list of backyard modifications. I just cant help myself!
A mate of mine first aquired this around 3-4yrs ago off an old lady, who couldnt afford to pay for its service, so she offered the car as payment, Win! He cleaned it up a bit and gave it the extreme initialD paint scheme, then had to move to woolongong. So i bought it off hime for what it owed him and it was mine! quick run down; - car weighs 550kg's - original motor is a 543cc 3cyl, 2 speed(no)powerglide - 19kw at the flywheel - carrying capacity is 350kg's - 20L tank, gets me nearly 400 k's - factory upgraded 12" rims, 145x70's - top speed (with originaly motor) was 110kph, doesnt have a tacho but it did not sound good! haha ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() despite its size, and can haul alot of shit! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() then came the fun parts, first mod was lowering it. first was the back with 3" lowering blocks, then the front with 2" lowereed king springs; ![]() ![]() ![]() the standard 543cc motor eventually died (didnt like driving on the freeway everyday to work). I bought a Donor car, a suzuki hatch with the massive 796cc motor, and went to work swaping engine the entire running gears from both cars. standard the mightyboys come with a single leaf spring rear, the hatch a triple so that gave the boy a bit less bounce in the rear. the running gear from that hatch had a massive 220,000k's less than the gear i pulled off the boy! ![]() ![]() Just recently i found some brand new springs/shocks laying on the ground at pick-a-part in woolongongoff a newer suzuki, got them home and modified them to fit which lowered the front another 1.5" ![]() at first i dropped it an extr 2" in the front, but then i couldnt turn, ha. so had to raise the spring seat up 1/2" to how it sits now; ![]() ![]() |

I then Decided to rebuild the motor, about a year after i originally put it in, it was getting a bit tired, so out that came
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() decided i should degrease the engine bay cos it was a bit of a mess, which turned into this; ![]() cut out the battery tray and any unused brackets, welded up all unused holes, flattened/welded the firewall, relocated all wiring under the guards, smoothed it all off etc; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When i got the motor back, began putting it all back together; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and how it sits today! with the new motor its got about 500% more torque! speedo only goes to 120, and it pulls hard past that ![]() engine work; - cleaned up and shaved the head, comp ratio is approx 9.5:1 - new pistons, valves - Reground cam - rebuilt carby ![]() now ive gotta fix up the rest of the body and itll be mint! 4k is a bout right for a good condition mighty. i bought mine off a mate for 1200, and as you can see the body is a bit rough.
anything under 2k is usually pretty flogged, will need a bit of work. |
