Over the past few weeks ive been trying to nut of the windscreen wiper wiring and a couple of other little wiring jobs I never got around to.

Well, that was all for nothing. Basically I have limited powerpoints in the shed and use powerleads, just swap tools as required. Everything has been sweet till this one time I switched the lead on thinking my driveway storm water sump pump was plugged in, only to find out all be it too late, that infact my soldering iron which was sitting on the floor of the car was plugged in.

We were lucky to catch the fire before it got out of control. The garage is connected to my weatherboard house. Could have been a lot worse!

Looking at about $30,000 to repair (respray body, replace complete interior, rewire entire car again, gauges..etc) Im not entirely sure what part my insurance is going to cover yet.

man that sucks.

I'm happy the house is OK and you were able to save it. I lit mone up a while back now and goddamn that was scary.

did you have some form of insurance on the car? I'm not a big believer in ""laid up insurance" but it just goes to show it can happen to anyone
