20k doesnt sound that bad when you break it up, say 5 major sponsors @ 2k and 10 minor sponsors with 1k contributions.

We could brainstorm a list of workshops/businesses to put a proposal to and someone intellectual could put together a bit of a letter or slide show or something to send out

Of course it would be hard to get anyone to commit on the basis of an event that is still in the expression of interest stage

i agree with RB2GO - $20k isnt a lot of money - not a lot of capital to spend, if you set it up in a way, where you're guaranteed a return on your investment BEFORE you open the gates to the public. there is certain ways to do it, and make a good return on such a small investment.

PROGMH - Jon Davison is a smart man - we'll let him run his own business his own way. Plus, when you're talking an event as large and complex as the easternats, its an ENTIRELY different game, to this. Just compare the logistics of it.

If you're having a go at me, PM me, and i'll gladly pass on my mobile number, call me personally if you like.

why would it be thought that anyone would run any event or business, continously for years, and lose money every time? is the source information reliable?

lets think about how much more there is involved in running a easternats style event, and running a drag meet.

Look, lets not take away from anyones effort, and lets not steer too far away from this thread topic.

Peace Out.

Here here. I'll do the work and have no issue just would like some commitment and backing an know it will happen before I spend 6-12mths organizing and working my butt off too no real financial gain for my time spent. however I can't do this without sort of committing time to the event before it's confirmed. I'm just not in the position to out lay the time just yet.

Possibly a bad idea, possibly a good idea... How about setting up a paypal style account for dontations to the event? Everybodys leaves there details with the cash. If the event doesnt happen because theres not enough interest of money, peeps get there dollers back. Im sure lots of people would spare some $$$$ for a epic event.

Your absolutely right exchase its not all about the racing, its about everything you mentioned above. And no matter what, i say if it started in Vic ( Nationals ) it stays in Victoria rain hail or shine. Who agrees? he he he
