The NT hwy's bar the Lassiter hwy are unrestricted but you have to watch out for the towns and be careful of the wild life. Think carefully before going over board and sitting on 250 or something crazy... 160 is more then enough. Imagine what would happen if you blew a tyre....

As for fuel.... work out your km per litre rate and then check on a map to how far you can travel before needing to refuel...

Other then that, yeah no speed limits on the open highway...

ok cool yeh if i eva get a chance to go up there in my vlt and i intend to ill be rappped been able to give the car a bit leagly, but yeh im more than educated when it comes to tyres, wheels, wheel bearings, suspention and brakes when it comes to consistant hi speed cruising.......

good u are a crump andy

WTF, they taking it away, dam, & i never got to see 300kph. 260k is my record so far, but yeah, its a dead straight road a lot of the way & it isnt really "unlimited", 150k to 220k is my usual cruising speed & for cars im sure that number would be lower. its a safe road if the driver has a safe mind..
the stats that the nt.gov are comming from stats like this "NT road crash death rate over the four years is 39 deaths per 100,000 Indigenous persons and 12 deaths per 100,000 non-Indigenous", clair is just adding up the numbers & blaming all that drivers. i think she needs to attack the indigenous who sleep on the road,

your a little late arn't ya, it's already taken away! and heaps of places u can do that speed still as most darwin people know

Ellastyle 11-01-07 19:18

poohkies 12-01-07 17:27

i hate to get political on this site but if we re-elect the same federal goverment again were all stuff,

this country over the last 2 years is getting worse and worse, laws out the ass fines out the ass bills through the roof, and now they want us to get payed less, soon enough we wont have money to spend on nice cars anyways.

only the rich getting even richer will.

but back to the topic, so all the hwy and fwy's are limited now ? and whats the new limit on all of them ? and what new law's do they want to bring in ?

probly if your cought farting in your car while driveing it'll be 3 points and 600 buck fine

Trblmker 14-01-07 08:52

130 km/h is our limit on the open highways

They are bringing in a demerit system amongst other things

GSX-R 600 16-01-07 17:52

Vote Jodeen Carney & maby we will get our open roads back, dam i hope so. i just bought a fast sports bike that does 130k in 3rd gear, easy, i could probably do it in 2nd, dam clair, i needed that sh1t, ive invested thousands on riding gear, the helmet alone cost me $600, then theres the METAL defensive rider training, over $500, wicked $300 tyre on the rear & thats before i mention the $10k bike on which i pay $600 rego per year.

poohkies 05-02-07 16:29

wont' matter who we vote in, open speed limit's are gone, your on a bike anyways, all the above mentioned roads will let u speed, or become a terra member and race around the track on open days
