Love the SV88, wouldn't hesitate to own one if I could afford to. Oh well, I have a 5L Calais, that's about as close as I'll ever get.

Good thread, Im going to SV88 badge mine soon, there are so many calais replicas out there.
These were probably the first holdens to be optioned with fax machines and brick mobile phones.
Do you know what radio they got smoked?

SMOKED 17-06-10 16:41

Also found 120 of 150 (pictured left) which has been converted into a Walkinshaw Replica:

Radio wise, Corsa would know more. If its the same as the F20 it was the 'SV' Dot Matrix Eurovox...

VL ule 17-06-10 22:08

Are you sure its a sv88?

Holden had the Mobile Phone pictured in the Aug 87 Calais brochure and there were a few HDT's that had them prior to HSV starting up. SV88 would have been first with Fax machine. Be interesting to know just how many portable fax machines ever got sold for any type of car.

Eurovox 8280 is the radio that the SV88 had. From what i have heard there are quite a few SV88 owners chasing them.

why would you convert an SV88 to look like a walky??

Interesting considering it has a build plate thats says SV88 but I cant see it affecting its value, it might increase it a bit if it has twin throttle body injection.

NASTY1 18-06-10 18:06

im sure that car has an efi 304 from a vn in it.think its on carsales or it has been a few times.

id be thinking he brought the sv88 shell and then built it up like that

NZ EVLHSV 18-06-10 18:10

Could have been done a long time ago when neither SV88 or Walkys were anything special

NASTY1 18-06-10 18:38

yea i was thinking that to.there used to be one getting round vic with an efi v8 and t5 in it bout 7 years ago back then it was prob nuffin special but bet you now they wish they never did it

KALAY 18-06-10 20:03

i know of a SV88 that is RED (well that maroon colour)
sitting on polished calais rims

same owner since brand new and got 30,000 kays on it (gets driven to his workshop once a month to be polished)

corsa? any insight?

Corsa 19-06-10 10:09

I'd be asking to see a build plate pic on that one. Could be another variation on an SV CC but the Calais rims wouldn't be likely original.

All were Dorward Blue as far as I'm aware

zaksvl 06-07-10 20:41

ok cool thanks.

Injection 07-07-10 12:18

wasn't the bottom half in these cars a slightly different colour?

Boyracer 07-07-10 16:17

I think the moulds and bumpers were a Jewel blue but the rims were body color coded.
Even the walky wheel was color coded to compliment the blue seats, these are a cheap way to get into a virtual Brock.

zaksvl 08-07-10 19:28

hey guys, just doing some research... the body kit consisted of what? an le front bumper lip a boot spoiler and the standard calais side skirts? was there a rear bumper lip? in the photos i dont see any or were all these things just 'extras' when ordered?
