My 1986 HDT Improved VL Nitron

Hey Guys,

As most of you know I bought the Nitron out of the Quokka in late March so just thought I'd throw up a few photos and a bit of info about it.

Its a bit of a pig at the moment, the rear needs straightening as there is a slight fold in the boot floor from when it was shunted from behind. The drivers door has a ding in it and the bonnets paint is pretty average. Apart from that it starts and runs great and just needs a lot of cleaning up. :)

I've found a fair amount of photos of different Nitrons and not one is the same so I'll have to keep looking as I want to restore it to its original state.

Now its just the big decision do I want to just fix it or go all out and pull it apart and then fix it! I'll be getting my VLCT painted first so I'll have a while to decide. Anyway throw up some comments or whatever.

Cheers,
Oliver.

the polariser actualy has crystals and magnets in it crystals are used to chanel energy and different things some people said it didnt do anything but brock beleived it did

I just picked up a dirt cheap vl from the local council down here. You can have the car if you want i only want a few bits and pieces namely the calais rims. Other then that my old house mate still has a brand new boot pan and wheel well but he wants $350ish for them.

Oliver 12-05-08 22:24

Can you get pics of the boot floor? I got one in the calais I'm wrecking but wouldnt mind a new one :)

lucky you tho. since i got an entire engine lying around that i dont need :)

Xibit0r 26-05-08 22:27

In regards to the boot pan mate i'll sms you the number if you PM your number again... Its NOS and in perfect condition... he payed like $500 for it when he bought it but hes not after a silly price like that as he has VN's now... its at my old house in Kardinya...

burgo88 19-08-08 21:32

got a orig tape deck if ur keen, also another for parts lol

Mattuz 19-08-08 22:18

any updates on the project man?

Oliver 19-08-08 22:50

Nah 99% head gasket is gone too busy at uni to do any work on her at the moment so wont get it really started till november, just collecting all the bits needed atm...

Mattuz 19-08-08 22:53

yeah my radiator ended up the same as that its definetely a cracked head gasket or the actual head is cracked, i saw u were looking for an original tape deck, i got a mint one if you want it

Oliver 18-11-08 23:02

Some recent pics, I havent really done anything to it since I bought it apart from collecting parts needed but now I'm free of uni until March its going to get some serious work done. Hopefully get it on the streets before summer is over!

Anyway some photos!

Oliver 18-11-08 23:20

If only it was that easy Jack!

At least the majority of the paint is in good nick should save me some $$

trkwpn 19-11-08 00:16

goodluck man
keep us updated =D

HDT-VLCLE 19-11-08 02:26

my rear end on my calais is just as bad as that, but yours had a tow bar by the looks of it - and it didn't help much.

but by the looks of it it's only the rear pannel and the boot floor that's ****ed, so shouldn't be to bad, those pannels are welded in from factory anyway.

keep us updated :)
