VL QUICK RACK KIT for manual steering racks

Wondering if there would be any interest in VL manual "QUICK RACK KITS" std racks are 4.4turns lock to lock and really suck for track work or conversions where there is very little room.

We are looking at getting a kit made up for our race car that is 2.2 turns lock to lock. We need to order 10 sets minimum and only need 3 kits... therefore we are going to have 7 sets gathering dust.

im not posting this to advertise etc but more a feeler to see if we can help out if its of no interest im happy for the 7 sets just to sit and gather dust.

i reckon $350 max.

Subscribed to thread. Not saying put my name down or anything, but I'll watch how this develops and the associated costs before I make a decision.

4.4 is standard lock to lock and you want to get 2.2 lock to lock, will this mean that 2.2 lock to lock will still get the same turning circle is standard just quicker steering? if so would be interested in this

TheChad 11-11-13 22:11

^^ exactly

Consider this a general indication of this being something I would like. Please let me know what you would expect this to cost, and some more details on what is actually required.

Is it just the parts shown there and then we just get someone to rebuild our rack with new rack/pinion as shown? So there wouldn't be any kind of exchange thing happening?

^^ would also like to know please

If you can put a manual steering rack in the market that's more cost-efficient than having to pay over $500 for a 25-year-old, un-reco'd piece of steel then I'd suggest there'd be interest...

its a gear set so you need the rack, just like every other quick rack.

VlTurboM8 20-05-14 21:23

Looks abit big, vls don't have a long steering shaft and there would be no where to put that in.

threeltr 08-09-16 03:14

Did this ever go ahead. If so is there any left, how much were they? seriously looking at doing something along these lines. Way to much steering 4.4 lock to lock, no good on the track at all.
