Calais Estate 2007...

Its time for Calais Estate 2007. Details for the cruise are as follows.

Destination : Calais Estate Winery, Pokolbin NSW.
Date : Sunday September 16th 2007.
Cost : Free. (Unless you buy food or wine at Calais Estate.)
Food : BYO sausages, steaks or whatever you want to cook on the BBQ for lunch, and don't forget your cooking utensils!!!
If you don't feel like a BBQ you can head into "The Verandah Restaurant" where you can order from their 'Tapas Style' menu.

Drinks : BYO beer, spirits, or soft drinks for the drivers, wine can be purchased at the cellar door.

Meeting Points/Times :
I would suggest arriving at meet points at least 15 minutes before the departure time to keep the day on track.

...Newcastle:
*****Newcsatle Foreshore - Depart at 9.30am
*****Twin Shell Servo's at Wallsend - Depart at 10.30am
*****Calais Estate Winery - Arrive at 11.30am.

...Sydney:
*****Thornleigh McDonalds - Depart at 8.30am
*****Twin Shell Servo's at Wallsend - Depart at 10.30am
*****Calais Estate Winery - Arrive at 11.30am.

The layout for the day will be the same as it has been in the past, Sydney people meet at Thornleigh Maccas and head up to Wallsend, Newy people can meet up on the foreshore, then head over to Wallsend where we can all fuel up and meet up with the Sydney guys and girls. Parking at the Shell's was a bit of an issue last year, so after you have fuel park along the side of the link road, just past the roundabout, heading towards the F3. From there we will head to Calais Estate for some photos on the hill, wine tasting and lunch, we will then head into Newcastle Foreshore for the afternoon.

The lunch arrangements are either a BBQ at Calais Estate, or you can eat in their restaurant. Remember for the BBQ you need to bring your own meat & cooking utensils etc.

Wine tasting is available at the cellar door if you want to try the wine and you can purchase any that you like, along with all types of merchandise.

This is a cruise not a race. Keep your speeds down especially along the F3 etc, remember there will be P plate drivers in the group so i would say limit the groups speed to 80 - 90kph to keep everyone together and avoid any unwanted attention.

Post in here if you plan to attend and i will add your names to the list.

Directions

Maps:
Link Road Exit off F3 freeway.
Shell Servos at Wallsend and meeting point parking.

From Sydney, get on the F3 freeway to Newcastle, follow the freeway until you get to the Newcastle Link Road Exit. Follow the link road along and it takes you straight to the meet point at Wallsend. The parking is along the Link Road heading towards the F3 So you have 2 options.
If you have a full tank of fuel - go around the Roundabout at the end of the link road at wallsend so you end up heading back towards the freeway and we will be parking along the side of the link road just past the roundabout.
If you need fuel - go therough the roundabout at the end of the link road and there are Shell servos on either side of the road just past the roundabout. To turn around and get heading back towards the freeway again go past the servos, go through a set of traffic lights and there is another roundabout at the top of the hill, go round the roundabout and head back to the other servo or the meet point.

it would take him 2 days to drive accross, the problem is his car has never been on the road that long at once. Ah well i guess we all like a challenge lol :p

Dark_Vl 06-08-07 23:11

I might be up, have a lot of things to take care of / get sorted with the car (usual story) :P

but hopefully im in...put me down as 60/70% !

any1 have any idea how much a new front bumper / respray in silver would set me back?

GMH-3OL 06-08-07 23:48

just saw this. :(

would have loved to make it, unfortunately my good friend is getting married on the same day, plus it would be too risky taking my car far from home especially when it will be used as my wedding car two weeks later.

hope you have a good turnout!

AVSTER 07-08-07 23:19
