Mine are 19x8.5 offset 38+ with 225/35R19 and that works perfectly

However you may want to check the inside clearance at the front, as I have coilovers which give more room as the springs is narrower than normal

nah man i had everything standard, 20x8.5 245s on it dolce dc06 i think they where...sat nice with no rubbing at all, i couldnt slam it real low but because not the tyre but the rim hit the gaurds on the outside.

I got 20s on my vl and i can only have 3 people including me in the car. its got 225s on it. Is there any way i can have more people in the back?
my guards are also rolled. do i need suspension setup like spings, shocks etc
in order to do this?

other than bling/wank factor why do you want 20's?
Wouldnt the car run rough as guts with 20's?

i dont know offset but their 8.5 wide 225 35 20 tyres
Offset is the key to making them fit. A couple of mills either way can make a big difference

225/30R20 should be the same overall diamiter as 225/35R19 which is what a lot of guys run with no problems on VLs. So 225/35R20 could be a little to big for a nice fit, not to mention it will slow your car down

Where does it rub?

3QY30T
29-09-06, 13:14
it rubs where the bumper bar is in the guard

Trim the bumper to give more room. I had to do that with my walky kit and you wouldnt know by looking at it

champ you just have to roll your guards all the way not just at the tops then you have to trim your rear bar like NZ EVLHSV said.. you shouldnt have a problem after this.. unless your panhard rod is standard thats a different story...

20x8.5" wheels checklist:

*lipped or rolled guards (the whole guard dont think youll get away with a **** job) and bumper trim (inside lip of the bumpers)
*adjustable rear panhard rod
*new lowered springs (unless you like the sky)
*check steering and replace damaged or dry bushes
* 225 tyre on the front max 245 on the back
* 40 offset is standard on most aftermarket wheels and will work fine

As above is dead right, just had my 20's fitted and they are perfect, its low and I can still take 2 people in the back and it doesnt rub anywhere, the offset is the biggest thing to get correct.

kalais6, what rim width, offset and tyre size are you running?

Could get it a bit lower still :D

kalais6
10-10-06, 18:13
Thats using 20x8.5 on 225/30/20, the offset i am not sure as I had to get about 5mm machined off the rear of the hub so they'd fit properly.
And with anyone in the car it does drop lower, looks nuts with 5 in the car ;)

hotbox
10-10-06, 18:28
when you say hub do you mean off the rim?

kalais6
10-10-06, 18:36
The hub is the section of the rim where the studs go thru. At the back of mine the section where the studs came thru sat proud, so i had that raised section machined off to sit flush with the rest of the hub (of the wheel)

i tryed to get that done to mine but i couldnt find a machine shop to do it. was yours done by a fitter and turner?

Yeah got put onto a local dude that does custom stuff from home and he did it for me in an hour for $50. Made all the difference, literally.

May want to mention rim width. Because a 9" rim with 40p wont work easily

I had 3mm shaved off my last rims and yes that can be the difference between fitting and not fitting

Good to see you used the correct tyre to keep the rolling circumference fairly normal

Cheers NZ EVLHSV, i did my homework with these and checked the DPI website, means i can argue the point now as my 20's are legal
