Hey, i'm looking at purchasing an electric water pump to keep the 355 as cool as possible.
Has anyone here done the conversion?
was it well worth it?
i've heard that it can save upwards of 10hp?
what unit did you use?
what was the cost?

Sorry for all the questions, i did a search and sh!t all came up.

Aaron.

imo it aint worth the investment, they're what... $400?? and i doubt they even free up that much HP

The new Davis Craig pumps are suspose to be alot better. Cost around $200 from memory. Id look at running one if you find your engine temp rises at cruise as the stock job water pumps are known to cavitate at higher rpm.

I installed 1 of these on my mates GT the new Craig David pumps(LOL Sorry)But found the car to over head when being driven thru traffic and normal street driving. It seemed to work best only for the track and no were else. If ur only gna be racing ur car then yes go for it otherwise dnt bother

If your really serious you can't go past the CSI water pump. I know of 4 355 strockers running them. They are pritty expensive but will keep your car at the correct running temp in all conditions.

how much are these pumps???
ive seen burnout cars (big blocks) with nothing more than an alloy radiator and dual fans and if it keeps them cool then a 355 will be a breeze.

u need the ewp110 series. well worth it. it cuts into your bottom hose and does away with the pulley if u got thermofans etc. can get it for 265 delivered to your door.

dunno if its a new model or what, but when i used to work at a car parts shop we had basically one in 2 of those things sent back.. i think we eventually stopped selling them, do u daily or at least regularly drive that car? coz for short runs they seem fine but something with actual street use i wouldnt trust their reliability, unless davis craig has bought out a new reliable model these days

i'm running a davies craig ewp and controller, probably didn't need the controller now that i've done it, just keep your thermostat in place, run a davis craig mechanical thermal switch and it'll work well. i haven't got a power reading for the "after" but it definatly feels like it makes more power everywhere.

The gen one pumps used to fail is the seals didn't drain (or something like that) the gen 2 pumps run a ceramic seal so that should be not a problem now...... good luck

ps i've definatly seen straight bolt on kits available for the 308's and i'd probably go with that if it was me

yeah thats the problems they always had with the leaks.. so theres a gen2 with ceramic seal maybe shes alright now so i might retract my previous statements :)

they are now up to the gen 3 pumps. a lot of ppl buy the ewp 80 thinking it will be ok but its not big enough for a 5ltr plus engine. u need the ewp110. ive sold prob 50 of these and no one has emailed me back saying they have had dramas.

Yea the new ewp110 Davies Craig pumps are alot better. They have been designed to work on large capacity V8s.

We sell them at my work for $199, they offer great value for money.

i've just witnessed today a davis craig EWP split in two! they were dyno tuning a mates R33 gts-t at PITS on the GC, it was making 520rwhp on 15psi then bang the pump split all the way around the plastic seam where it joins.
It got replaced under warranty straight away. Also another mates R32

GTR 'ONBAIL' has gone through 2 off them also ****ting themselves.
Think i'm going to try the AU twin thermo fans first and see how that goes.

I'm running a Davies Craig EWP on my RX7, I didn't install it - previous owner did, everything is working fine and keeps my car temperature at a constant 70deg.
