Well over 3k would be my estimate in the shop.

Also now is the perfect chance to go to the 3L block! :)

It won't cost anymore, thats for sure and it will make more power with less stress.

was talking to a mate that owns weapn r33. he said he would go back to 2.5 bottom end if he could cause it wasnt worth the money he spent on it...

From a shop you certainly wouldn't get it all drive in, drive out for anywhere near that price. Lots of labor involved that they would have to charge for. Not to mention GST, Workshop supplies and the list goes on...

no shop is gonna pull any motor our and put it back in for 200

lol 3L bottom ends are worth nothing, what did he do to it to spend so much money?

I'd be going for the 3L bottom end if I was you as well (actually I already have :D), perfect opertunity to do so, and if you're getting it rebuilt no reason not to.

Mines being built for about $4000 with forged pistons included in the price at an engineers, that's their normal off the street price.

i looked into strengthening my motor and just for putting in forgies (not sure about connies, cant rememeber if that was in the price) including the cost of the pistons they wanted 4-6K.

phuck me power come at a price....

benny - if you know ppl they will :)

as for my prices above , that was without labour.

not to mention the fact that the engineer ur getting it built by would be one of the best. He has built some extremely powerfull vehicles and also has the fastest club car around mallala

arias pistons alone are worth around $1800 retail

Bearing more on top so $1200 for pistons and bearing is wrong

sorry to hear you got ripped nugget.. especially from a site member..
as mick said you will get more power wit hless stress, 3L block wont be as revvy, but when the time comes for me to go twin cam, i will still use the 3L block..

A good tune will be the key to the next engines lifespan.

Really need someone that knows RB25 engines and Microtech inside out to do the job.

With a PowerFC the engine light flashes when it detonates, very very handy.

If it were me i would get an RB25 engine loom and adapt a PowerFC.

You just don't know what a Microtech is doing.

what shops are you going to

i will get u a set of arias for 1100 all day every day.

i got my cp's , ceramic coated crown , and total seal rings (the only brand to use and not gapless either) for less than any price i have mentioned.

I doubt very much that dave has regrets with his engine.
With a proven 308rwkw in my car on a low 17psi why wouldnt ya go rb30 bottom end?
Its been driven hard for the last 2 1/2 years without fault.
Last of all if ya want to own a fast and reliable VL be prepared for ongoing costs.
Its not as simple as just paying money and hoping for the best.

dave said it himself, he would rather 2.5 bottom.... i would rather 3l though. my last 2 vlts were so much more tourquey
