As there has been a general concensus about what is an acceptable avatar and what is not, lately there have been numerous people continually trying to push the boundaries so the moderators have decided that there will now be rules and consequences regarding inappropriate avatars.

By inapropriate we are referring to anything of pornographic nature (porn is already not allowed on the forum), anything sexually provocative or suggestive, scantily clad females (and males for that matter), racist, any sexual cartoon/stick figures and anything else of this nature.

Most people understand what is and isn't acceptable.

This is a car forum and anything of the above nature is not appropriate. If people are so adamant about having these types of avatars, there are numerous other sites which this type of material can be viewed, and calaisturbo.com.au is NOT one of them. We will not tolerate people continually trying to flaunt the rules or push the boundaries. Many members view this site at work and have been accused of looking at porn on work computers when in fact they are avatars of people on this site. I don't think I need to further explain the issue.

We will be removing all current inappropriate avatars without warning. If you have an issue with us removing your avatar, and you relplace your avatar with the same or more inappropriate material, you will be banned, we don't care who you think you are. Nobody is above the rules here.

These are some simple rules to follow guys and gals and there is no need for a fuss to be made over something so simple.

good idea mods. not that I can get on here at work anymore.. stupid new internet usage monitoring thingy.. but yeah, i'd imagine this will save other people some grief..

I don't really know what your comments about s/c are about, this is just the same rules as almost any heavily used forum on the internet, the rules are generally no images shown at all that are not-work-safe (nws), that includes everything from child porn to bad taste/racist images. If you guys are into that sort of thing then I suggest you move onto a new forum.

Let me put it this way, would you be happy if all the female members had avatars with guys flopping their wangs out for you? I don't think so, so same no-porn rule goes for everyone equally. As for mods not being fair about it, it's pretty obvious if you have a porn image, if you think it may not be suitable then you are most likely correct! It's all to provide a good, all-ages, family safe online venue for us to discuss the topic at hand (VL's).

I'm sorry if you have other views on it, we are ALWAYS willing to listen to new suggestions, but obviously no matter what we do we cannot make absoultly everyone happy (as is life).

But why the changes now? I remember when SIN owned this site i seen some members with PORN or other sexual avatars and nothing was that stricked back then as now...

This site is much much larger than it was back then, it's got a new owner, and even under Marks (sin) management blatently pornographic avatars were removed, on the origional calais turbo forum we didn't even have avatars! Sorry rubes, but it's just for the reasons I posted above that this rule is in place, I mean we basically give you guys a pretty good free run of the forum in terms of what you can do, this is one of the very few rules that are in place. :)

When I see one of those girly / half porn avatars I imagine that the owner is some pimply faced teenager who has never had a girlfriend ;)

ok time for me to step in.. I think everyone has the general gist of why we are asking users to have more appropriate avatars.

It was a decisions by all the mods and admin and fair few members to crack down on it.

I have already asked a few people to change it themselves, and they have been more than happy to, as they knew they were pushing the limits.

So take a second to look at your avatar, if you honestly think we will ask you to change it, take the initiative and change it yourself, don’t make me send a PM, as I send/receive enough as it is.

And as for the mods issues.. hard to keep everyone happy :rolleyes: Morgo and HDTCAL I thought we resolved the issues? You both know how to get into contact with me, if you still want to discuss it, I’ll make time for the both of you.

Actually I'd have to say it was a LOT more strict back when I was running the boards.

Just thought i'd remind everyone about this..

A few of the avatars were getting a bit too risqué... So I’ve removed them.

Remember guy’s there are people here that are a little younger and you don’t want to hurt their innocent eye’s.. And I don’t want to get into trouble from work for looking at porn…

This is getting out of hand again guys, we're sick of getting reports of non work safe avatar's.

Starting from today - if you have a risqué avatar, you'll have it removed and you will receive an official warning/infraction notice which can lead to a holiday from the site...

Not sure if your avatar is safe? If you're second guessing it then get rid of it and do so today.
