Is it sacrilegious to change walky? They what some consider the ultimate VL and they were limited. However I did see a walky on the goldy with R8 rims .... it was damn sexy ...... but does that not make it as special?

Well in MR355's case, the full yellow leather interior was definately for the better.

i have often pondered the same thing. but i reckon with minor changes it makes them even more "sought after" :)

I haven't seen one with a full colour change as yet, only the factory sky blue and factory black one's.

The factory colour is Panorama Silver, and it was the only colour you could get it in. There is a few that have been changed to black. There is one I know of in WA - "TWR SV", which was the BATMOBILE years ago.

There has been a few over east that have been changed to black. Anyone know of any other real original walkinshaw's that have been re-sprayed in a different colour?

Im sure when I say that there were at least 2 Walkinshaw's that came in factory black.

they all were produced in panorama silver, some dealers had some painted black to try and sell them when the vn grp A was released.

All were Panorama Silver from the factory.

There is a genuine one that got painted white on the Gold Coast a few years back. I heard of a genuine one getting done in a Harlequin colour too but this might have been a rumor.

my mates next door neigbour smashed his. so he fixed it up (but ko'd the engine) so put a 3ltr turbo motor. had it up to 28psi and was running 600cc motor bikes and winning! this thing was awsome, till he lost his license and sold the car.

sold it with the original v8 engine (or what was left) i think the guy who bought it restored it. but can't be 100% sure.

Wasn't there also some prototype one? I think I seen it in Street Commodores at some show. From what I remember, it looked to have some Aero/Director add on's

I've seen a walky with calais lights and no body kit. Well the guy actually had the bodykit but it was in plastic. he had owned the car since new and thats how he bought it ...

It was 2 VN group A's that were black, hence the total no of VN Group A's that were built = 302. The last 2 were black, and from what I have been told were raffled off at Bathurst!

I rang HSV, and there were NO factory options availible for a Walkinshaw at all, no tinting, sunroof etc.... If you bought a walky like that it was a dealer mod...

Same goes for the 9 Calais-Walkinshaw's that were supposedly built. All dealer mods.

Actually the Calais Walkinshaws were a factory option, although to get rid of the last remaining stock the dealers probably copied them. They had the full SV88 bodykit except that they retained the stock Calais grill and had the bonnet scoop to cover the twin throttle manifold.
The VN Group A had the two Black as mentioned for the Tooheys giveaway at Bathurst. They were bought from dealers by Tooheys and then resprayed for the giveaway. There was however supposed to have been one white VN Group A produced.

I rang HSV and they told me that there was no options for the Walkinshaw from HSV. The only extra was the pieces for the holes in the side skirts for the jack, but you got them anyway.

They said that the Calais-Walkinshaw's were a dealer mod.

Who knows?

Question: Were the dealer's removing the bodykit's and selling them in the plastic with the Walkinshaw itself, or were they selling them with the kit in the plastic BEFORE it was placed on the car? (Im talking about the one's that they were looking to offload quickly here)

14-04-03, 14:34
There is 2 real walkinshaws that have been turned into stretch limo's. Go to http://www.walkinshaw.net and under the originals section you'll see em.

I guess they aren't originals, as they have been modified, but that goes for almost every walky on the street. If you change the slightest thing then it isn't 100% original.

They are genuine walkinshaw's though.

The black VN GrpA that was featured in that mag a year or two ago lives in perth and had been extensively modified and from what the article gives away the other one is still in Melbourne or near Melbourne somewhere.
I have also read about a white VN GrpA being produced, from what i can remember it was to be exported to someone, but i can remember who and if i remeber right the article i saw had a picture of this white VN.

By the way the Walky calais that were made were done so by the factory to try and clear them befor the VN GrpA's arrived as people were holding off for them instead of buying the walky. They were not done buy the dealers

If you look in the build numbers page, you will see that there is 2 Walky Limo's.

At the time that I did the photo's for the Limo, they were in the process of making the 2nd. They have since completed it, and they are identical.

I know the guys very very well... They are awsome cars!

a few years ago in a dealership on the gold coast they had a black calais walky had all the build tags i never got to talk to the dealer but but there was somthing on the cars description about the car being a hsv directors car not a calais director but a car driven by a hsv person on the board of directors <make sence? > anyways the car was well over the 100grand mark so yeh dont know were it got to i have not seen it since

as for modding a hsv of any kind acording to hsv if any mods are done you can no longer be a part of the hsv classics program .

ILLUSIV
21-04-03, 09:53
Only a few cars could be part of the HSV classics program anyway. From memory it was 10 particular cars(Walky, vn group a, vp senator, gts-r, VS clubsport etc) that weren't modified and had less than 100,000 original kms on the clock.

INFLYT
22-04-03, 16:01
What is the HSV Classic's Program anyway? Is it some sort of club that has been formed, or is it something along the line's of a certificate or something so the car retain's a high resale value?
