How is the gear stick knob on a Walkinshaw removed? I'm trying to replace the boot but can't get the knob off.

You just unscrew it.

I've tried unscrewing it a thousand times and it just seems to never come off.

Sometimes they can be real tight. This may seem like a dumb question but which way are you turning it?

The gear knob is really loose and it turns freely. I'm screwing it anti-clockwise

It is probably like mine and the thread is stripped (only has a plastic thread), it should just lift off.

Has anyone ever had the thread redone?

I've evn tried just pulling it off and it just won't budge.
