hi guys,

i am looking at purchasing a walky and just would like to know who i could ring to find out if it is a genuine walky or not, as it doesn't have the id tags on it anymore.
thanks

I'd be very very suspicious about a Walky minus the ID tags!!!
The only reason I could think they'd be taken off is if it was recently resprayed and they haven't been put back on.
If you get the engine number and chassis number you might be able to call HSV to verify it's origins.
You must be 100% sure it's a Walky before purchasing coz no doubt a large sum of money will be changing hands, and a fake is not worth anywhere near as much!!!

Yeap... The ID plates will have the build number, build date etc...

Does it have the build number on the dash?

Ring HSV with the engine, chassis number and build number and they will tell ya....

Be careful though... may have been a re-shell..

I would doubt that you could.

You can't get tags re-printed. And a walky with out the tags is not worth nearly as much as ones with.. no matter how genuine it looks.

Even if you can get the papers from HSV, which will be very hard, it still won't hold up against a complete walky. And future buyers will also be wary.

To get verification on the car from HSV you will need the Body Identificiation Tag number which is the body coloured tag with a 6 digit number starting with either a J or L. eg. J123456. You should be able to get the paperwork from this number.
