View Full Version : New brakes + should i use a hub adaptor or converted vs front?

Hey all im collecting all my parts for my new brake set-up so far i have the rotors: wh grange 330mm

And the calipers (pics soon) they are brand new vt calipers.
ill be fitting quality pads and using braided brake lines. What i wanna know is would you guys suggest the vl hub adaptor or using a modified vs front? i can fit the vs front with modified lower control arms.

Any ideas?

them sealed vs hubs cos a fortune to replace, bearings for the vl are only $20.
i payd $300 for billet hubs with bearings and seals from kent brake and clutch.

P.S i'm am looking for some standard vt rotors and calipers if some one has a set

You do realise the pads will overhang a 330mm rotor with the VT calipers don't you?

overhang coz the pads are to big or coz of how the calipers are mounted to the hub?

Pretty sure the Grange run 4 pot calipers and has a bracket to allow the caliper to mount further out from the smaller, standard disc size.

Yeah I used the hub adaptors for mine, pressed the races/bearings into them, done. I only used the 296mm rotors and entry level Clubsport calipers not the blingin R8s...
The hubs are available everywhere these days arent they, reckon ive even seen them at Sprints???

4pot calipers (harrop) were an option on all hsv models but not standard. This grange didnt have 4pot calipers, i measured factory hsv pads (db1353) and compared them to police pads (vt style- db13??) and would you believe the factory vt pads are bigger than hsv ones!!
I have placed the pads over the rotor and there is no overhang at all. Im going to be putting on custom brackets so the caliper sits down on the rotor further.

i thought you would have had to use the twin piston style, did think the standard vt go on right

the standard vt is twin piston looks pretty much identicle to the piston you have there

dunno, coz the pads they take are maller than vt ones. Ill get some pics of my calipers tonight and post them up.

corran- ures r the standard hsv calipers also called c4. the standard holden 1s look very similar but a bit different and have smaller pistons.

the standard holden ones have smaller diameter pistons but bigger pads, work that out.

they do come with 4 piston, u just gota pay more for them. what size discs r they 330mm or 296mm? can u fit 15" front runners? im trying to get some 16" space savers off the ve from work. u want a couple?

cant fit 15" rims with the 330mm rotors but im pretty sure you can with the 296mm

there the 330mm sucks i can't fit 15's on anymore, can u get stock vt brakes paul so when i race i can swap them back over

nah we dont have ne sittin round at work, ebay would be cheapest, i mite be able to get some old discs that mite be ok for racing but not calipers, just use ure calipers and use different mounting brackets where did u get ure discs from? how much?
